Last month I judged the Soil Associations BOOM awards for the baby and toddler food category, and they’ve finally revealed the shortlist products. The awards ceremony is not until the 11th May, but I really wanted to share the three finalists.

I had such fun with Annabell Kindersley who co-owns Neil’s yard and Nell Card editor at Guardian Cook. It was really hard to choose, but the three finalists were

Quinola Mothergrain – delicious food pouches, bursting with vitamins and nutrients, ready in 30 secs for ages 3+. They come in three flavours, Mediterranean, Thai and TexMex, the latter being our personal favourite.

Although it was pretty weird tasting pureed baby food, especially blind folded, Aldi’s Organic Range for baby has come up top notch and is a great price point.

Their organic Mamia Apple and Banana Breakfast pureed was really tasty. Last but not least, one of my absolutely favourite products was Mendia’s Raw Food which looked beautiful. Their Banana Biscuits went down a treat and would make a delicious snack for any time of the day. Probably better for slightly older children.
