10 Fantastic Family-Friendly Restaurants In London

London is home to some of the world’s best restaurants. If you can imagine it, London has probably opened a restaurant that is serving it up on a plate. Yet, when it comes to feeding the family, picking out the right restaurant to suit everyone can be a challenge. Here are some of our favourite family-friendly hangouts to try in 2018.

Liman, Angel

Mediterranean with Turkish influences, Liman is a super welcoming family restaurant. The menu is packed with chargrilled grilled meats, fish and shellfish dishes, salads, as well as halloumi and other veggie offerings. It’s a brilliant place for some quality nosh and a relaxing meal with the family.

Benihana, Chelsea

If it’s often a challenge keeping the kids entertained throughout a restaurant meal, head over to Benihana (in Chelsea or Piccadilly) for some ‘food theatre’. That’s right, this is show-style dining where diners sit around a hot plate and watch the highly-trained chefs doing some seriously cool meal-prep. Menu options include tempura dishes, signature seafood options as well as teriyaki steak and spicy hibachi chicken. Check out the Kabuki kids’ menu for child-sized portions of Hibachi steak, shrimp and chicken.

Where: Benihana, 77 King’s Rd, Chelsea, London SW3 4NX

Tredwells, Covent Garden

Tredwells is a fantastic, welcoming place for family, friends and young children. Contemporary British cuisine is on the menu, a la carte or prix fixe. For juniors, choose from magnificent meatballs and cheery chicken lollipops. For the little ones, allow them to try seven courses and take the recipes away to recreate at home.

Where: Tredwells, 4A Upper St Martin’s Ln, London WC2H 9NY

Donna Margherita, Battersea

Donna Margherita is serving up the most authentic Italian food this side of Clapham. With fantastic, friendly service and food sourced straight from Naples, you’re guaranteed a top quality meal. Choose from pizza, linguine, and homemade gnocchi options. We recommend booking a weekend afternoon for a chilled family dinner.

Babylon, Kensington

This is fantastic option if you’re looking for some high-end cuisine with the kids in tow. Located in the Roof Gardens (which themselves are a lovely afternoon out), Babylon offers a seasonal British menu and a brilliant view of the London skyline. The young diners’ menu consists of traditional British dishes, including cottage pie, and sausages and mash.

Savoy Grill, Soho

No doubt a touristy hotspot to boot, Gordon Ramsay’s Grill is also popular amongst families. If you’re looking for some top notch grub and something the kids won’t turn their noses up at, look no further than the Savoy Grill. With its French-British menu, they’ll be something you fancy from oysters, lobster thermidor, French onion soup, and prime cuts of British beef. The usual offerings for the children – sausage & mash, chicken & chip, cod & chips – will ensure everyone’s happy.

Home to a fabulous cocktail bar and a private members’ club, Beaufort House also has a restaurant which is great for families. Head over for breakfast, brunch, dinner or high tea. Pappa Roma, Kensington

Pizza restaurants are always a hit for families – you can’t go far wrong with pizza. But, with so many pizza parlours lining the streets of London, you can sometimes walk into a bad pizza joint. Award-winning Pappa Roma will restore your faith in the no-imitations Italian cuisine you’ve come to know and love. There isn’t a children’s menu, but with such an extensive menu of primi piatti, secondi piatti and pizza, they’ll be something cheesy or doughy they’re bound to enjoy.

Bush Hall Dining Rooms, Shepherd’s Bush

Perhaps the most accommodating for children on this list, Bush Hall embraces the family dining experience. The children’s menu comprises of fish & chips with lemonade batter, and cheesy macaroni, followed with puzzles and colouring to keep them entertained. The adult’s dinner menu offers a range of traditional pub food including barbecue ribs, bang bang chicken, and the BHD posh kebab. We heard a rumour there’s free popcorn too!

Sticky Fingers

It sounds like a fun place – somewhere you can chow down and get stuck in. Famously owned by Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, this classic American ribs and burger joint is a family favourite tucked off of Kensington High Street. The kids can tuck into mac ‘n’ cheese, bbq spare ribs, while adults are spoilt for choice when it comes to burgers, steaks, and fajitas. Some say it serves the best ribs in London – let us know what you think?
