Roald Dahl Imagine Children’s Festival WHEN: 10TH – 21ST February WHERE: Southbank Centre PRICE: Enquire online GREAT FOR: All ages The two-week Imagine Children’s Festival run by kids, for kids, yet again returns to the Southbank Centre this half-term with a Roald Dahl theme. Besides readings from some of the UK’s popular and much-loved authors, the festival incorporates dance, film and comedy. Judith Kerr, Cressida Cowell, Mary Hoffman and David Baddiel (to name-drop a few) will be in residence, celebrating the author’s centenary. There are both free and ticketed events within the festival, so there’s something for everyone. Do book tickets, as this is one very popular event! Storystock at The Bush Theatre WHEN: 17TH – 19TH FEBRUARY WHERE: THE BUSH THEATRE PRICE: From £2 GREAT FOR: Ages 2 – 11 years Another one for young bookworms! Angels & Urchin’s travelling story circus Storystock returns to The Bush Theatre this half-term with a fantastic line-up. The three-day literary festival offers up some fantastic children’s theatre, puppet shows, and treasure hunts with songwriting and creative workshops for older children. African Adventures at Chessington World of Adventures WHEN: 14TH – 22ND February WHERE: Chessington World of Adventures PRICE: From £10 GREAT FOR: All ages When isn’t Chessington World of Adventures fun?! This half-term is certainly no exception. Why not head down to Chessington for their African Adventures, for a day out packed full of African fun and discovery. Experience access to selected rides, the zoo and the SEA LIFE centre, take part in an African Adventures quiz trail, and catch a daily zoo animal show. For those of you coming in from out of town, they offer bed and breakfast packages on site. Surrey Docks Farm WHEN: 15TH – 19TH February WHERE: Surrey Docks Farm PRICE: From £2 GREAT FOR: All ages A trip to the farm is always a family favourite, and this year, the working charity Surrey Docks Farm have lots of fun activities lined up for the kids. From animal handling, cooking and nature crafts to piglet clubs for tiny farmers and baby music classes, there’s so much to keep the little ones entertained. Surrey Docks Farm are running ‘Holiday Clubs’ to cater for the older children, I love the sound of the ‘Wilderness & Survival Skills’ club, perfect for any Bear Grylls fan! This club will teach kids how to build a fire, cook outside in the elements and make shelters from tree and plants. This half-term they’re inviting kids on a Charlie’s Chocolate adventure around the castle estate, using a trail card to solve riddles that lead to giant chocolate bars, each with a golden ticket hidden inside of a different colour wrapping. Those that successfully complete the adventure can swap their cards in to receive free sprinkles on their new ‘blue bubblegum’ flavoured Kentish ice-cream, and claim their chocolate bar prize.
