January is upon us, and if you’re looking for something to take your mind off the January blues, why not book yourself in for a bit of pampering? Wahanda Editorial Director Liz Hambleton talks you through the treatments that should go straight to the top of your ‘to try this year’ list. Enjoy!
1. Environ Active Vitamin Treatment
If you haven’t joined the cult of Environ yet then 2016 is the year to do it. Get a taste of what this stellar skincare brand can do for your complexion with their signature Active Vitamin Treatment. Great for dull or pigmented skin tones; brightening Vitamin A and C will be pushed deep into the surface of your skin. The results are instantly impressive.

2. Brows Threading At Goddess London
There’s only woman who gets her hands on my eyebrows and it’s Savita at Goddess Beauty In Golders Green. Combining careful threading and tinting she turns my naturally sparse eyebrows into something quite amazing. Make 2016 the year you rediscover your long lost brows.

3. Extreme Sports Massage at Bliss Spa London
If you’re hitting the gym with all you’ve got, an extreme sports massage at Bliss Spa London is just what the doctor ordered. This muscle-relaxing rubdown is perfect for the workout-weary, pinpointing your most painful parts and targeting tension for limber limbs and a speedy recovery. Ask for Michael. We love him.

4. The Pure Body Indulgence Ritual at Espa Life At The Corinthia
If you’re looking to kickstart your new year with a detoxing, yet highly pampering body treatment then this is it. Your two hours of bliss will start with an invigorating full body exfoliation, followed by a cleansing body wrap (complete with scalp massage)  and end with the most restorative deep tissue massage i’ve ever tried. What makes it even better is the incredible aroma of the Espa products through-out. Dreamy.

5. Seasonal Attunement Treatment By Annee De Mamiel
There’s something so very soothing about meeting Annee De Mamiel. Combining her skills as an acupuncturist, aromatherapist, facialist and general haven of holistic calm a 75 minute treatment will rebalance and reboot your mind, body and complexion. It’s the perfect way to start the new year.

6. LVL Lashes
Designed to lift, curl and add volume (without extensions) I find one session of LVL lashes lasts for about 4 weeks and makes mascara a thing of the past. Great for all you gym bunnies out there hitting it hard during January. Personally I can’t survive my Infra Red yoga sessions at Glow Yoga without this treatment.

7. Pro Makeup Session at The Face Bar
There’s more to makeup than a flick of eyeliner and a touch of lipgloss. I’ve learnt many of my favourite tricks by visiting the Face Bar team in East London and never fail to be impressed with the look i’m given. A definite new year must if makeup isn’t your strong point.

8. Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow
Get into professional exfoliation treatments and you’ll never look back. It’s an affordable fix that perfectly bridges the gap between detoxing and pampering. Great at this time of year when money is tight and skin is dull. This Elemis scrub is the business!

9. Teresa Tarmey Facial – 12 Needham Road, London, W11 2RP
She’s the darling of the Primrose Hill set and the go to skin guru for many a beauty editor. Now she’s opened up her very own ‘skin shop’ on Ledbury Road and made her bespoke blend of skin resurfacing treatments and ‘manual lifting’ facial techniques available to all.

10. Lymphatic Drainage Facial
Beat the post-party season bloat with a Lymphatic Drainage Facial. Designed to flush out toxins and reduce fluid retention in the face, this specialised massage invigorates tired looking skin instantly. I feel my face transforms after this treatment.

11. Indian  Head, Neck & Shoulder Massage
Put your lunchtime to good use (forget sales shopping) by booking in for a restorative head, neck and shoulder massage. A mere fifteen minutes is all it takes to melt away muscle tension and flood the body with renewed energy. Great for clearing the mind at lunchtimes and un blocking trapped energy from hectic mornings spent hunched over your laptop.

12. Reflexology Foot Massage
So much more than a foot rub. With regular treatments it’s possible to heal the body of niggling ailments, not to mention making a positive change to your overall wellness. Book in for a course and reap the rewards. I’m addicted.

13. The Illuminator Facial By Dr Prager
There’s not many facials worth taking the afternoon off work to have but this is one of them. Getting an appointment isn’t easy but you’ll be glad you did after trying ‘the Illuminator.’ Results are both immediate and long-lasting  thanks to a clever concoction of a light peel and a vitamin infusion. I find I can skip foundation for a full week after this treatment.

14. Weekly Sauna & Steam Therapy
If there’s one new year’s resolution i’m sticking to this year it’s to treat myself to regular steam & sauna sessions. Our scandi sisters swear by sweating out the bad stuff on a weekly (and even daily) basis to keep their health at an optimum level all year round and i’m taking their lead.

15. Murad Men’s Facial at Murad Beauty Room
If the man in your life is in need of some serious blackhead SOS then book him in for this no nonsense skin saver. Specifically designed to deeply cleanse clogged or neglected pores, this treatment expertly hydrates and reinforces the skin’s protective barrier. It’s ideal for regular shavers.

16. Megawhite Teeth Whitening
If all that festive indulgence (Red wine, port, coffee and a lot of chocolate!) is starting to show up as staining on your teeth, an express whitening session can lift then upto 8 shades whiter in just 25 minutes. It’s a brilliant pick me up at this time of year especially if a new lipstick is on the cards…

17. Detoxing Hair Conditioning & Scalp Treatment
Give yourself a hairtox this January with a nourishing and conditioning scalp treatment. Particularly brilliant if you’ve overdosed on styling products during the festive season; you’ll find your hair feels cleaner, softer and looks so much shinier after a session of this.

18. Sodashi Crystalus Body Massage at Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre at Hotel Cafe Royal
Akasha excels in soothing, holistic body treatments and when i’m in need of a total mind and body detox I book in for the Sodashi Crystalus Body Massage. Ancient Australian healing stones and crystals rebalance the senses and leave your body feeling revived and relaxed at the same time.

19. Clarins Moisture Quencher Treatment at Lifehouse Spa & Hotel
If you’re in the midst of a winter skin crisis then help is at hand. No one does hydration SOS better than Clarins and this moisture quenching treatment gives extreme relief to the most parched skin. Your body will be cocooned in a replenishing mask while you kick back and enjoy a soothing massage.

20. Reiki with Susie Anthony
If low energy and stress levels are a constant issue for you then it could be your emotional calling card to try Reiki. In the right hands there’s nothing scary or quirky about this ancient treatment as I discovered after visiting Reiki master Susie Anthony. In just one hour she restored my flagging energy levels and gave my body the healing it needed.
