Top Tips for Make Up, During and After Pregnancy My Baba 18 April, 2012 Health & Fitness, Living ABOUT EMMA O’ BRYNE Emma O’ Byrne has been living in London and working as a make-up artist since 2001. Emma’s career has taken her all over the world on incredible photo shoots and fashion shows, most notably the Victoria Secret shows. Emma has spent the last 5 years assisting Charlotte Tilbury, as well as working for major designers including Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, Chloe, Cavalli, and Victoria Beckham. Emma personally heads the shows and designs the look for Emilia Wickstead. Emma’s main focus these days is her private client and celebrity client base. A few years ago Emma recognised an increasing demand from the non-celebrity, savvy woman who had a desire to go that bit further, to look really fantastic, finished and flawless: “What’s a great hair do, with bad make up?” She works almost daily on regular clients and celebrity clients including Sienna Miller, Trudie Styler, Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, Natalia Vordinova and many more well known names. Emma had the great privilege of working on the Royal wedding last April, making up both Princesses Beatrice and Eugene. She has worked on quite a few other European & Middle Eastern Royal weddings as well as numerous weddings in the UK and around the world. TOP TIPS For me, it was all about making the face look fantastic, with the eyes and eyebrows being the focus. I found being pregnant meant I had became very lazy about make up, I had lost the desire to spend ages carefully applying it, not to mention that my usual look now needed softening and modifying. I made sure my eyebrows were always shaped and lashes tinted blue/black by Fere at Neville Hair & Beauty on Pont Street. It became imperative that I curled my eyelashes; in my opinion the best lash curlers are by Shu Uemura. I use a longwearing mascara, Estee Lauder Double Wear, Zero Smudge Curling Mascara. I could not have done without a kohl pencil smudged into my top & bottom lashes. I love Teddy by Mac or metallic mink by Tom Ford. Stilla, Harvey Nics has a great double-ended brush #15, to help blend. Of course, no pregnant woman can be without some under eye concealer. I used the little Laura Mercier undercover pot -2, it has a concealer for under eyes and for the face, as well as some powder to set or remove shine. My skin had a wonderful glow and didn’t require much or any foundation, but I loved using some Kanebo (Sensai, Amber 02) Bronzing Gel on my forehead, nose and cheeks to give me an even healthier summer glow. Sometimes, to look extra special, I used a blusher. I love Desert Rose by Bobby Brown (coral & pink coral are also fantastic colours if you’re more tanned). One of my all time favorites is the Estée Lauder Bronze Shimmer 02. You can use it to add shimmer to your cheeks, highlight the cheekbones or as an eye shadow on your eyelids. It’s an instant lift up to an otherwise natural make up look. For lips day or night try ample pink lip gloss by Mac or rose flush by Laura Mercier. Check out Emma’s website here.
