Keeping kids entertained this time of the year can be quite expensive, especially with the kid’s home all the time. But what if you could not only keep your kids entertained, but also not cost you hardly anything? Here are some great ideas that will keep your kids happy and entertained in doors AND outdoors ALL winter long!
Indoor
1. Send them on a scavenger hunt
Make your own with age appropriate items to help your children learn AND have fun while doing it. I promise, this WILL keep your kids busy for awhile.
Here are some fun options:
- Number hunt
- Word hunt
- Color hunt
- Shape hunt
Put colored tape on the carpet to make roads for toy cars
All you need is two rolls of tape, 30 minutes of your precious time, and all the cars/trucks/boats and airplanes you have floating around your house. There are many ways to make a track start or end. Have fun with it!
Card board painting
This craft project is super cute AND easy for a perfect day indoors. All you needs is colored paper, little pieces of thin cardboard (just cut an empty food box in pieces ”” make sure you have one straight edge!) and paint. Use your fingers ‘paint’ cars, or robots, or crocodiles- whatever your little bundles of joys desire.
2. Have a Camp-Out Indoors
Indoor camping can be a fun activity that all of all ages can take part in (even parents) Not sure how to pull all that together? It’s simple. I’ve rounded up easy ways to build your own camping ground.
Make Your Tent With:
A large cloth: A light cloth works best to make your walls and roof. A big blanket or comforter can work too, but if it’s too heavy, your tent might droop in the centre.
Four chairs: You should have a chair for every corner of the tent. Chairs with high backs are best, as they provide added support for the tent.
Here’s how:
- Place the chairs in a rectangle. Turn the chairs so that their backs are facing one another.
- Drape the cloth over the chairs.
- Weigh the sides of the cloth down with food cans and Let playtime begin!
3. Make recipes together
There are plenty of recipes that you and your kids can make and have fun at the same time. Have them help you search for ones that interest them, gather the ingredients, and cook away.
