Last week we were fortunate enough to attend the launch of the AVEENO® Baby range. The launch included a mother and baby yoga session and a delicious lunch from 26 Grains. It was such a fantastic opportunity to meet nutrition and dermatology experts and learn about the new AVEENO® range and the amazing health benefits of oats.

Upon arrival we were introduced to the new AVEENO® Baby products. If you’re not familiar with AVEENO®, they are a skincare brand whose products are all formulated with oats, and help to protect and hydrate dry and delicate skin — perfect for the little ones! That’s why you can understand why we were pretty excited to hear about their baby care range launching in the UK.

For centuries people with sensitive skin have been bathing in oats to soothe irritation, so AVEENO® have built on that to develop this marvellous baby skincare range. Oats help to provide a protective film on the surface of skin and help maintain the normal pH levels of the skin. “When it comes to baby skincare, it’s important to use natural ingredients that work to gently nourish and protect their skin,” consultant dermatologist Dr Shefali Rajpopat explained.

Obviously oats aren’t only for soothing skin; they’re an excellent superfood too. 26 Grains founder Alex Hely-Hutchinson provided a delicious oaty lunch at the launch with dishes for both parents and children. For the adults she prepared Oats With Pepper, Parmesan and Olive Oil. This savoury dish is such an inventive way to use oats and when teamed with olive oil and parmesan and served with rocket had the taste and texture of a risotto. The children’s dish Baby Bircher Museli with Apple and Beetroot went down a treat with the toddlers. This is such a nutritious meal for your little one, providing them with a healthy dose of fruit and fibre.

The session also included a relaxing baby yoga session with yoga expert Tatty Bumpkin. Much like the skincare routine for both you and your baby, AVEENO® and Tatty Bumpkin believe that yoga is such a key bonding experience for parent and child. The yoga session highlighted how relaxing and enjoyable this exercise can be. Your little one will also sleep much better after the stimulation of yoga. Tatty Bumpkin recommend starting the session with baby massage to get them ready and relaxed. The session included poses to promote body awareness, improve confidence, develop communication skills, and keep baby calm, before finishing with time for stillness and relaxation.

After a relaxing yoga session, a delicious oaty lunch, and feeling like we had learnt so much more about the benefits of oats, AVEENO® sent us on our way with a goodie bag to try out their new products.

This included the AVEENO® Baby Soothing Relief range made up of two products for dry skin prone to irritation. First bathe your little one in the Baby Soothing Relief Emollient Wash; then apply the Baby Soothing Relief Baby Emollient Cream after their bath. This will leave skin soft, hydrated and protected.

The other goodies were made up of the AVEENO® Baby Daily Care Range. This range is made up of body wash, moisturising lotion, cleansing milk and barrier cream. They’re perfect for everyday use, so we highly recommend working it into your baby’s wash and cleansing routine.
