Activities & Days Out / 27 July, 2021 / Ellie Thompson
b_together is a family-focused community hub opening in north London this June and we couldn’t be more excited. Created by none other than Maggie Bolger, b_together will offer Monday to Friday childcare in the form of daycare nursery centred around a bespoke education programme for babies, toddlers and kids of all ages.
Situated in St John’s Wood, b_together’s beautifully designed space will provide a multi-faceted family destination and neighbourhood hang-out for all age groups, which will be music to the ears of new parents with lockdown toddlers that haven’t seen much of the world yet.
Founder Maggie Bolger is a pioneer in the child learning development space, and together with her team of experts, has developed a bespoke education programme called Make+Do. Make+Do is a modern, progressive take on early years learning with a strong focus on the arts and imaginative learning with environmental awareness at its core. Make+Do will teach little ones to appreciate our planet and to “b_kind” with their everyday choices.

“I’ve given it its own name, Make+Do, because those two simple things teach us all we need to learn – it doesn’t have to be so complicated. This lovely programme covers childcare, classes and camps, it’s rooted in creativity and the arts and making a mess. It’s all about having fun and accidentally learning along the way. It’s been a joy to create, and I can’t wait to see all the little faces bring it to life when we open.” says Maggie.
Make+Do is housed on the first floor of b_together, providing different zones for little ones to use throughout the day. The nursery prioritises play and exploration at the very heart of its unsegregated, open learning environment. There’s so much variety for children of all ages to enjoy. Their days will be packed with everything from art, cookery and activity studios, to time spent in soft play and quiet zones.
Founder Maggie Bolger has always been passionate about shaking up the current child care offering. At b_together you’ll find passion and creativity for doing things differently, bringing the early years experience into the 21st century. Its modern curriculum is designed to inspire creativity, independence and organic learning.
“For those of you that know me, I’ve always had a real bee in my bonnet about the state of the childcare industry. It needs a good shakeup. People are leaving the industry in their droves because the passion for kids has been killed by bureaucracy… I want to ‘bring the sexy back’ so great passionate people want to work in this industry again. It’s about creativity and passion and having fun. It’s about love and family and truly caring – not about paperwork and box-ticking for a governing body that visits once every few years for a few hours.” adds Maggie.
At b_together’s nursery, you won’t find a packed schedule filled with structure. Mornings are filled with uninterrupted free play where children are encouraged to be led by curiosity. When it comes to eating, play isn’t always interrupted either; nutritious bento boxes can be handed out so eating doesn’t have to be limited to the table. Of course, there’s also an emphasis on manners and the process of eating, washing hands and sitting together. Afternoons are focused on adult-led learning from the bespoke Make+Do programme. All classes have been carefully pre-referenced with the EYFS early development milestones, so you can rest assured your preschoolers are firmly on track.
Make+Do is geared towards children of all ages. Besides weekday childcare for children aged one to four years old, there are lots of planned activities for the school holidays. With creative themed classes running for all ages, four to 11-year-olds can also enjoy camps onsite as well as outside excursions led by b_together’s team of experienced, energetic educators.
Make+Do is open and offering summer camps for children from 1-3 and 4-8 all summer, as well as accepting registrations for new starters for daycare ages 0-4. Any enquiries should contact childcare@b-together.com.
