DockATot x CoppaFeel! have partnered up to increase awareness on breast health, with an important focus on new and expecting mamas.
Becoming a mother can be all-consuming, and it can be common for new mums to overlook aches and pains. Stats show that 1 in 3000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during pregnancy alone, a diagnosis that impacts 200 – 250 families in the UK every year. What’s more, those diagnosed during pregnancy or within 5-10 years postpartum are associated with an increased risk of metastatic disease compared with those diagnosed who have not had biological children.
DockATot x CoppaFeel!’s mission is to raise awareness so that all new and expectant mothers can have the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer. They want to bring about a clearer understanding of the normal changes their body will go through during pregnancy and birth. By empowering women to know what’s normal and what’s not, enables mums to get any abnormalities checked out, without delay.
A survey of more than 1400 new mums was carried out by DockATot x CoppaFeel! to learn more about boob checking habits and to see if new mums put their own health first. Knowing that breast cancer is the biggest killer of women under the age of 50, the results were quite shocking.
DockATot recruited four UK mums to share their heartfelt stories of dealing with breast cancer. Laura, Lizzi, Alice and Roisin were all diagnosed with breast cancer amidst the chaos of new motherhood. Captured on camera, these journeys are set to inspire mums around the country to prioritise themselves, too. Staying on top of your own health is the best thing you can do for yourself and your children.
