Nick Clegg’s new £126m Youth Contract aims to wake up teenagers not in education, employment or training. The contract aims to cut the number of “Neets” in England by paying charities and businesses to help the 55,000 youngsters find jobs or return to college. 

It’s reported that nearly one in five young people between 16 and 24 are classified as NEET. 

The scheme has been criticised heavily by Labour, ever since the launch, while Chris Keates, leader of the Nasuwt teachers’ union accused Clegg of increasing the number of Neets by scrapping the the Education Maintenance Allowance. . .
