The Mitre is based in the heart of Bayswater and right next to Hyde Park. Nipa Thai at Lancaster London The Nipa Thai is a prestigious restaurant based in the Lancaster London hotel serving up deliciously authentic Thai food. The restaurant’s original furnishings and panelled teak interiors give a definite air of grandeur, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. There’s a set menu or option for à la carte, and it’s the place to head for a special date occasion. Head chef Sanguan Parr has been there 16 years, and he’s certainly mastered the art of his craft. The food is delicious and includes dishes from the northern region of Thailand. For starters, we had the crispy prawn dumplings, and steamed rice wraps, and for a main, I went for the stir fried prawns with coriander, pepper and garlic – which we absolutely delicious, the prawns were huge and plentiful! I ordered a side of prawn pad thai which was probably a little overkill, too much delicious food, I had to take a box of leftovers home. Jamie had the stir-fried chicken with chillies and basil leaves with steamed rice. We ordered a white chocolate mousse for dessert, which was probably a mistake as we were both so full, but all in all – a fab night out and well worth spending that bit extra for great cuisine.
