Save The Children’s annual event, Den Day is fast approaching, and I wanted to drum up support for those of you who like the idea of spending the night in a den. Last year I did it for the first time, and the children were delighted. My husband was away, so it was a bit of a treat. We pulled out loads of old sheets, and made the corner of my bedroom into a palatial den, made of old sheets, pillow cases, rugs and scatter cushions.
The children couldn’t believe their luck when I explained the theme and said that the could spend the whole night in there. Kicking the whole thing off by reading books by torch light.
On the 17th and 18th June, get your creative juices flowing, because Den Day gives us all an opportunity to get creative for a great cause, and with the sponsorship forms, enabling forms to raise money for Save The Children. It also teaches the children the importance of charity work.
This year my daughter’s favourite Peppa Pig has come on board as an official ambassador for Save The Children’s Den Day. There are loads of downloadable Peppa Peg activities on the Den Day website. Peppa Pig is just one of the growing Den Day supporters, which include Little Mix, Luke Evans, Jon Snow and many more.
Families who sign up at Den Day .org receive a free kit packed with ideas and tips to plan the magical experience and it really is very easy to take part. If you’re up for it, get signed up and don’t forget to share the photos of your family den using the hashtag #DenDay.
