My daughter and I had great fun making these jelly cauldrons and they were devoured within seconds.

Cut oranges into halves and scoop out the flesh, being careful not to puncture the skin. Make up jelly to individual taste, and pour into the orange halves. I found it easier to sit each half on top of a glass while setting to stop any spills.

My daughter had the idea of throwing in a couple of jelly sweets which looked pretty gross and added to the Halloween feel. Before serving, I dotted a few dribbles of natural food colouring which gave the effect of tadpoles swimming in the jelly – again pretty gross but the kids seemed to love it!

For the cauldron itself, I secured a fizzy boot lace with two tooth picks – I didn’t do for all of them, bearing in mind what children and tooth picks can be like!
