Greece With Little Ones: Barefoot Luxury At Peligoni

With its unique mix of hillside accommodation and barefoot beach-club living on the quiet north coast of Zakynthos, Peligoni strikes a rare balance. Think early-morning swims, long lunches overlooking the sea, sundowners by the pool, and starlit dinners that linger on into the night. Now, on top of that, picture a place where families with small children slot easily into the rhythm.

Peligoni’s set-up makes that possible. Guests stay in private villas scattered across the hills and along the coastline, then come together at The Club when it suits them. You have your own space, so you can work around naps and early bedtimes without them dictating the entire day. You can dip in and out of Club life without feeling confined to a single room or tied to a rigid schedule.

For younger children, there are two dedicated crèche spaces. One sits at the heart of The Club, making it easy to move between coffee, sea, and check-ins. The other, just a short walk or drive away, at Peligoni’s Deli, offers a calmer, slightly tucked-away setting. Both follow the same island-inspired programme

It’s that mix of grown-up atmosphere and thoughtful childcare, plus the freedom of your own space, that gives families the freedom to enjoy summer at Peligoni with pre-schoolers in tow.

A week with shape, not pressure

The crèche programme draws gently on the island itself. Each day carries a simple theme, such as Salt and Splash, Little Island Creatures, Olive Grove Adventures, or Sun, Sea and Sailing, with activities that feel connected to the setting rather than imposed upon it.

Mornings might bring paddling-pool play or songs and stories in the shade. There are nature sessions beneath the olive trees, sensory colour hunts inspired by the Ionian blues, salt painting and group mural making. The week closes with a relaxed Little Greek Festival, featuring simple baking, music, dancing, and crafts. It’s joyful without being overwhelming.

There’s a gentle rhythm to the day. The crèche opens from 9am, with the morning’s activities beginning around 10:30, followed by lunch and a snooze at midday before an easy afternoon session. But nothing feels rigid. If naps run long or energy dips, the structure adjusts. The aim isn’t to fill every hour; it’s to create space for children to be happily absorbed while parents enjoy the day.

For four and five-year-olds, the Rugrats and Rascals programmes add another layer. Rugrats sessions run daily in two-hour blocks, with activities that feel playful and varied, from T-shirt painting and junk jewellery making to games on the sea, pool time and an evening party. For families wanting a longer stretch, Rascals extends the day from 9am to 5pm, with additional crafts, activities and lunch included.

Life at The Club

At the water’s edge, the days unfold easily. Parents can linger over lunch while children drift between swimming spots and shaded corners. The sea is clear and inviting, and always within reach. While the little ones are being looked after, parents can sample Peligoni’s extensive watersports offering, with top-of-the-range kit, an expert team of instructors, and unlimited access and tuition with a paddlesports or full watersports pass. Peligoni prides itself on its sailing history, so it’s the perfect place to take out a boat or have a go at wingfoiling or windsurfing, whatever your level.

Because everything is close by, moving between your villa and The Club feels effortless. You can stay for an hour or for the whole afternoon – the week finds its own rhythm. The mood is sociable but not frenetic, families are often at a similar stage of life, and there’s an unspoken understanding about sandy feet, early dinners, and the occasional wobble.

Evenings that still feel like a holiday

One of the quiet luxuries of Peligoni is that evenings don’t automatically end at bedtime. Babysitters can come to your villa, making dinner at The Club or a nearby taverna entirely manageable.

With no long transfers or sprawling resort to navigate, slipping out for a proper meal feels wonderfully straightforward.

Why it works

What makes Peligoni particularly appealing with pre-schoolers isn’t high-energy entertainment or glossy perfection. It’s the way the place is designed. Private space when you need it, thoughtful childcare when you want it. A Club environment that feels adult without excluding families.

In the early years of parenting, when routines are fragile and days can easily tip into chaos, that flexibility feels like a real luxury. Barefoot, sun-warmed, and shaped around your own pace.
