With the British weather finally pulling its act together, it’s only natural that we are all wanting to get a little more active and spend more time outside – Leonora and her kids included! What can we do to get out and be more active? Below we have listed some of the UK’s best running events that everyone of any age, size and background can participate in. Obviously some require a particular age and fitness level, but others are more relaxed. Whatever level you feel you and your family are at – there is something for everyone!

Parkrun UK

What: Parkrun usually organise weekly 5km timed runs for everyone of every ability. All ages are encouraged to participate. The best part? It’s all free!

Timings depend on which area you live in, but most occur every Saturday between 9am and 9:30am.

Where: Parkrun has events going on all over the UK. Go to their website to find the nearest park to you!

Richmond RUNFEST

What: This two day event features several races to partake in. Ranging from the full-on 10k marathon to the NIKE Family Funrun, there is quite a variety to choose from to suit you.

The Little Welly

What: A 3km children’s obstacle course consisting of 30 individual challenges through streams, woodland, mud and foam, The Little Welly is perfect for the adventurous type between 4 and 12 years old. This fantastic village festival boasts a variety of activities, such as laser tag, parkour, live music, pony rides, den building, sports, yummy food and much more. Every family member is covered with this fun day out!

When: Saturday 24th June 2017 and Sunday 25th June

Where: Culden Faw Estate in Henley-On-Thames

The Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder

What: The renowned Tough Mudder race is putting on an event specifically tailored for kids. The Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder is a one mile mud obstacle course that is designed for kids over 3.5ft tall. This event encourages kids to work as a team, as well as get a little muddy along the way! Participants must be between 7-12 years old.
