What you will need:

  • Pencil
  • Black Card
  • Scissors
  • Paper straws
  • Sticky tape
  • Google eyes. pearly stickers (optional)

  • Draw or trace your spooky image onto the black card, then cut around them
  • Take your paper straw and cut it in two. You may like to cut it even shorter if you are baking small cakes
  • With a small bit of sticky tape, stick the straw to the back of your cut out shape
  • Add some goggly eyes or pearly stickers to bring your cake toppers to life!

  • 110g/4oz butter  softened at room temperature
  • 110g/4oz Caster Suger
  • 2 free-range eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 110g/4oz Gluten Free Self raising flour
  • 1-2 tbsp water
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking soda

For the icing

  • 300g icing sugar, sifted
  • 170g cream cheese, cold
  • 1tsp lemon juice
  • Edible Glitter or coloured sugar (Optional)

Preparation method

Preheat the oven to 180C, then place your cases into a muffin tin (Makes 12 small)
Mix all the ingredients together until smooth
Fill the Paper cases half full
Place in oven for 6-12 Minutes depending on the size of your cases. You can check they are cooked by pushing a skewer into the centre of the cake and checking it comes out clean. If there is still wet mixture on the skewer leave it in oven a little longer
Take all the ingredients for the icing and mix by folding. It is best to do this by hand, as if you go to fast you can make the mixture runny. If the mixture does not form a firm icing, add more icing sugar
Once the cakes are ready and cooled, use a piping bag in a circular motion to ice, finish by decorating with edible glitter, or coloured sugar and your cake topper!
