I’ve always been a huge fan of Jools Oliver, she was one of the first celebrities we interviewed on My Baba, and we’ve followed her Little Bird collections with Mothercare ever since. We were thrilled when Jools agreed to write a blog post for us, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

When I was asked to write a blog for My Baba, I have to say I was flattered and excited.  I’ve been a fan of the site for some time now so having the chance to write this is bit of a dream come true for me. June and July are always such a mad time of the year for us with work and family.  There are so many birthdays and school celebrations at this time, I feel like I am constantly making a birthday crown, sewing a bonnet or wrapping presents!

Back in May we celebrated Jamie’s 40th birthday which was such fun. We decided not to throw a huge party, we organised small little surprises for him instead, lasting over a week. He absolutely loved it, especially when Darth Vader and some Storm Troopers arrived at his office to take him to a surprise party at 10 o’clock in the morning!

The final half of the school term was taken up by exams for Poppy and Daisy – the big ones!  It really brought back memories of when I was revising for my exams – weirdly I used to quite enjoy it. I think it was something to do with my excessive use of highlighter pens, stickers, multi-coloured post-it notes and a very colourful revision timetable! I was so impressed with them though. They are definitely dedicated and tended to work a bit harder with the promise of hot chocolate and biscuits during every break!

All these events only serve as a reminder that summer is well and truly here and school is finally out! Usually, as in the past two years, it’s time to get out the tissues as we prepare for one of our little ones to move up and move on in their school life. This year was no exception and little Buds will be moving on from his lovely nursery onto ‘big school’. I can’t believe I am actually typing those words! In our house Buds will always be known as ‘Baby Buds’. I actually can’t see that nickname changing for many years!

In other news, we were so excited to launch our very own Little Bird Instagram at the end of April and I can’t quite believe we already have over 14,000 followers! It was so exciting to watch the numbers creep up, and we are really honoured that we have so many loyal and enthusiastic Little Bird fans out there. We try and post a TBT (throwback Thursday) every week where we give-away items from past collections to one follower – this seems to be so popular.  We really love seeing the pictures people share of their little ones, and it’s such a treat for us to see everything worn just the way we envisaged!

Myself and the Little Bird team at Mothercare had a very exciting meeting last month, putting the final touches on the Spring collection for 2016 which all looks fab, and I know you were all treated to a sneak preview of the Autumn collection a couple of weeks ago which launched last week.  This season we took inspiration from a day down on the farm, picking apples and feeding chickens.  Childhood adventures that I remember form my childhood.  We have some amazing new styles that children (and adults) will love.

I can hear the children getting noisier downstairs so I’d better sign off now.

Thanks for reading

Lots of love

Jools xx
