Play-dough is always such a firm favourite amoungst my charges, so why not combine the fun of using play-dough with the sometime arduous task of letter formation to create a pleasant activity that will wanting to do more.
To make the play-dough you will need:
- 2 cups of Plain Flour
- 2 cups of Warm Water
- 1 cup of Fine Salt
- 2 tbsp of Vegetable Oil
- 1 tbsp of Cream of Tartar
- 2 tsp of Cinnamon
- Colouring – optional
Method:
- Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan.
- Over a low heat mix them all together until they come away from the sides and bottom in a large clump. If it still feels sticky to touch it just needs slightly longer on the heat.
- Store in air tight container.
For the activity write the letters on a large A4 piece of paper (1 letter per page), and then get them to form the letter out of play-dough so that it sits on the one that you have just written.
