Meet the RyRy Scallop, the world’s first luxury compact toddler seat set to take the parenting industry by storm. Compact without compromise, the RyRy Scallop by RyRy Compact has style, size, safety and sustainability all in its favour. Suitable for children approximately 15 months plus or 76cm to 105cm, we are super excited to share the scoop.
The stylish RyRy Scallop toddler seat was created by a mum and dad entrepreneur team in South West London. On a mission to revolutionise car seat travel, the team at RyRy Compact have come up with this brilliant solution for car seat travel away from home, as well as a super-sophisticated option for your everyday car seat.
These guys know all too well how difficult it is to hire safe and reliable car seats for kids, especially abroad. For one, the admin is a nightmare, and secondly, nobody really knows the history (or hygiene) of any second-hand seat, let alone how to install it. Stressful. And anyway, according to RoSPA and UK organistion Child Seat Safety, the best advice is to never buy a second-hand child seat, so given that logic, why would you rent one?
The forward-facing RyRy Scallop is an i-Size car seat for toddlers 15 months plus, meeting European Union’s newest and highest safety standard, the EU R-129 i-Size certification.
i-Size compliance is a major safety benefit, as it means the seat can be easily installed via top tether and seat belt into any car that has Isofix. By law, Isofix car seats legally have to offer maximum front and rear impact protection, as well as built-in side impact technology, so wherever the adventure, this is a ride you can rely on.
If you’re planning on driving overseas, the RyRy Scallop is a great investment and one that offers complete peace of mind when it comes to transporting your precious cargo. Compact and lightweight in nature, the car seat weighs only 9kg (yes, you heard right, 9kg!) and it can fold down to the size of hand luggage. Together with its recycled travel bag, it’s completely portable, so you can take it with you on your travels, both home and away.
The RyRy Scallop’s sustainability credentials are impressive. The car seat is designed using premium merino wool, which helps to regulate your child’s temperature on even the hottest of holidays.
Merino wool has a thin waxy coating of fibre that contains fatty acids to give it natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. It repels the water that can cause mildew and mold to grow, so unlike synthetic fibres, your car seat will stay fresher for longer. What’s more, to provide your little explorer with the ultimate comfy ride, the car seat’s padded foam is made from a fully biodegradable and nontoxic plant-based polymer, quite unlike most toxic foams found in children’s car seats.
It seems RyRy Compact really has thought of everything. The car seat’s travel bag is made from recycled PET yarn, which is basically a load of recycled water bottles. Why? Because they claim that 1kg of recycled PET means 60 fewer plastic bottles in landfill. Makes sense to us!
While they’re on a mission to make better sustainable, quality products, RyRy Compact knows that when it comes to car seats, not every part can be made from recycled materials. This is because the materials wouldn’t be strong enough to protect our kids. Instead, they’ve set about offsetting their plastic production consumption, by teaming up with a charity called Big Blue Ocean Cleanup. A RyRy Scallop car seat is made using 4.2kg of new plastic, so for every car seat sold they fund the removal of 5kg from the world’s oceans. Pretty nice of them, right?
What’s more, RyRy offers to responsibly recycle your old car seat at their expense. Once you’ve purchased and registered your new RyRy Scallop, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org and they’ll sort the rest.
The RyRy Scallop is available in four colourways to suit every taste and toddler. Choose from True Charcoal, Black and White, Grey and limited edition Blush.
