Retro Fever at The Toy Store My Baba 11 November, 2015 Living, Presents, Toys & Books The Toy Store on Oxford Street has been open for a few weeks now, and I finally managed to get along for the bloggers’ grand tour, and I have to say, it was so much fun. At The Toy Store it’s perfectly usual for find yourself welcomed at the entrance by a Star Wars’ Stormtrooper, (kind of eerie!) remote control cars zipping at your feet, and boomerangs flying around your head. There are staff singing, dancing and doing the odd conga around the aisles of the store. This is a work team that know how to have some serious fun. I wanted to hand my CV over and attach myself to the end of the conga line immediately. Reviewing toys is always my favourite part of the job, and I was delighted to see some old favourites on the shelves. From Care Bears, Sylvanian Families, Barbie, Thomas and The Tank Engine to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and My Little Pony, it was like a trip back in time. It’s definitely a place you’ll want to take the kids – even if you’re just window shopping. It’s interactive and exciting and there’s always something going on, whether it’s a magician, a demonstration, a live event, or an educational workshop. I popped back today to start my Christmas shopping – and had a little dance in the aisles when nobody was looking when the conga went by.
