Q: How do I create a modern French style nursery?
A: Modern French style is one of the big trends in nursery interiors. It’s a nostalgic, slightly boho and very soft look – think dusty colours in the pink-lilac-mauve-taupe-blue-grey range, painted vintage style furniture or an iron cot, and small pattern for baby’s bedding. Add some punch with neon pink accents and finish off with accessories in the shape of stars, dots or clouds – rugs, cushions, a wallpaper feature wall or accent mural, wall stickers or nursery art.
Brands to look out for are Airdeje, Laurette, Numero 74, April Showers, Petit Pan and Pilepoil. Try these shops for hip French style kids’ decor: Petit Home, Little Fashion Gallery, Caramel Baby & Child, Hop Like a Bunny, Smallable, Mimi’s Circus and French Blossom.
Remember the golden rule: don’t overdo it. Pick and choose one or two key elements and keep everything tout simple & tout doux!
