25-40 Year Old Skincare: Products and Practices That Work

Looking after your skin between the ages of 25 and 40 is crucial for maintaining a healthy, youthful appearance. Valerie Millington from Vee Advanced Aesthetics in Cobham, Surrey, has three decades of experience in the skincare profession. As an international trainer and examiner, her qualifications and extensive background provide unparalleled expertise. Here are Val’s tips for skincare products and treatments for 25-40 year-olds.

Skincare products and treatments for 25-40 year olds

This is the age group when you will start to see the first aging signs, usually under the eye, as the skin gets thinner and expression lines on the forehead become deeper. Your age group may still have breakouts and maybe post-acne scars; other small imperfections like nasal red veins and pigmentation may be apparent.

Wear sunscreen

My first tip is to always wear titanium dioxide mineral-based sunscreen 365 days a year, choosing SPF30 and changing to SPF 50 when needed. It’s a NO to products that say they contain sunblock, such as your moisturiser or foundation, as they do not provide enough protection. Ignore that part and use them only for their main purpose.

Vitamins A B C.

Choose standalone products with % labelling to ensure precise dosage, allowing you to know exactly how much of each vitamin you’re applying, which helps in managing your skincare regimen effectively. Standalone products enable targeted treatment, as each vitamin addresses specific skin concerns.

Vitamin A promotes cell turnover, Vitamin B improves hydration, and Vitamin C brightens the skin. Clear labeling also helps avoid overlap and irritation, particularly for sensitive skin and allows for customization based on your skin’s changing needs. Ultimately, percentage labeling guarantees both the efficacy and safety of your skincare routine.

A. Retinal/retinol helps with cellular changeover. The trick is to start at a low percentage and work up as you go.

B. Niacinamide helps with textural changes in the skin.

C. Vitamin C/ascobic acid brightens and lightens the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

Drench your skin morning and night. This is your moisture magnet.

Peptides

Peptides are wonderful small proteins that help plump the skin, there are many to choose from and mixtures as well. Copper peptides are particularly good.

Oils

Adding oils in the evening with your moisturiser helps with dryness and skin feel. Try adding a few drops of Squalene, rose hip or Jojoba.

Latic acid

Alternate two times a week at night between your retinal products. Use 10% and leave it on. Lactic acid will mildly exfoliate the skin.

Skin treatments for 25-40 year olds

There are many treatments available to you, however, below all require course form or repeating and can often be integrated to give the best result. I offer an individual consultation for £25, redeemable against treatments.

Injectables

With most injectables, there are multi-injections, so I, where possible, use special nano needles. These minimise both bleeding and bruising risks. I often add a topical numbing cream to make injecting more comfortable for you and easier for me.

Botox

For forehead expression lines, you must remember that Botox is not a skin treatment; it alters the anatomy.

Skin Boosters

Great hyaluronic acid boosters are applied to the dermis for Hydration Glow and Pumping. We’re talking about Profhilo and Seventy Hyal.

Profhilo

Profhilo is an innovative injectable treatment designed to hydrate and rejuvenate the skin, improving elasticity and firmness for a more youthful appearance.

Seventy Hyal

Seventy Hyal is a next-generation hyaluronic acid skin booster that provides deep hydration, enhancing skin elasticity and radiance.

Polynucleotides

These are great, especially for your eye area. Salmon DNA is used to brighten and strengthen the under-eye area.

Polynucleotides Lumi Eyes is a great choice. It’s a cutting-edge treatment that revitalizes and hydrates the delicate under-eye area, reducing dark circles and fine lines.

Meso Injectables

Vitamins Amino acids are great skin nutrients, like NCTF-Jalupro.

NCTF-Jalupro is an advanced injectable treatment that nourishes and revitalizes the skin, boosting collagen production and improving overall skin texture and radiance.

Microneedling

The Derma Pen 4 is a state-of-the-art microneedling device designed to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen production and improving overall texture and tone. Most practitioners will design a personalised program for each individual’s skin concerns.

Fat Dissolvers

Little fatty deposits like those under the chin, the bra line or love handles can be successfully and easily removed. Lipomax or Aqualyx are both innovative fat-dissolving treatments that targets and reduces localised fat deposits, helping to contour and refine body shape.

Skin Peels

Smart Peels technology combines AHA, BHA, Trichloroacetic acid, and other ingredients, reconstructing them into nano molecules to deliver effective peels with no downtime. Jessner’s and Bio RePeels can be performed on the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.

Small Blemish Removal

Small red veins, minor pigmentation, etc., can all be treated with electrolysis, which quickly removes or reduces most cosmetic blemishes. It is quick, safe, easy and cost-effective and leaves no scars.

Facials

This advanced treatment combines hydra-dermabrasion, RF microcurrent, and LED lamps to provide comprehensive skincare. Hydra-dermabrasion gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin, RF microcurrent stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin, and LED lamps reduce inflammation and promote healing. Together, these technologies ensure a radiant and youthful complexion, making it perfect for those seeking to maintain or enhance their skin’s health and appearance.
