At Original Travel we often get calls from frazzled parents requesting that holiest of Holy Grails – a family hotel that caters as well for adults as it does for the children. It’s a sad reality that slick kids club and activities galore to combat cries of ‘I’m bored’ tend not to go hand in hand with sophisticated accommodation, delicious cuisine and thalassotherapy spas, so when you find a hotel that cracks this conundrum, rejoice.
One that does, in spades, is the Anassa Hotel in sunny (326 days a year, to be precise) Cyprus. The Anassa has the finest children’s facilities on the island, but even better is their ‘Baby Go Lightly’ service. As with all the best ideas, it’s wonderfully simple – let the hotel know which items you might require from a reassuringly comprehensive list of baby and toddler equipment and as if by magic it’s all there on arrival, meaning you don’t have to pack the equivalent of 17 metric tons of additional clobber.
Then, once the children are safely packed off to the crèche or kids’ club or with the babysitter, parents can soak up the sunshine, swim, play tennis, dine at one of the four restaurants or enjoy pampering spa treatments, safe in the knowledge the children are having as good time as you are.
