There are many photography studios out there charging hefty amounts for a simple family photoshoot. Jamie and I fell into that trap last summer when Maddie was born. The price of the shoot seemed very reasonable, but the cost of the images was so high we couldn’t afford to purchase more than one of our new baby.
Fast-forward a year and we’d still not had professional photos taken together – until last Saturday. We enlisted the help of new nationwide photography business Perfocal, for a thoroughly enjoyable and affordable family photoshoot in own our back garden.
Perfocal’s business concept is honest and straight-forward. They offer transparent packages with set fees starting at £89 for family portraits.
You get to decide on how long, when and where via an online booking form that takes minutes to complete. Our booking was made a four days before the shoot itself, so you don’t have to worry about planning months ahead.
Perfocal’s website is easy to navigate and the booking process is incredibly quick and painless. The website’s online chat function is pretty nifty, with staff on hand to answer any questions you might have at any stage of your enquiry/booking.
When booking, you’re asked to supply information and direction as to how you envisage your shoot. Perfocal then reach out to their body of highly skilled photographers in your area and the best photographer is chosen to suit your requirements.
Perfocal are experts at all sorts of photo shoots. You can hire their photographers for family shoots, kids’ birthday parties, events and travel; I only wish these guys were around for my wedding back in 2016!
Perfocal refuse to compromise on quality. Only 2 out of 10 applications to be listed as a Perfocal photographer are approved, so you can be assured of the calibre of the photographer assigned to your shoot.
Perfocal’s prices are incredibly low, purely because they’ve taken the non-creative tasks such as the organising and editing of photos away from the photographer. The photographer is left to do what they do best – shoot.
We were assigned a photographer called Giulia. She contacted me a couple of days before to confirm the address, time and details of the shoot. Giulia arrived ten minutes early on the day. She was fantastic with Maddie, and put all three of us at ease – we had such a lovely afternoon.
Perfocal send your professionally retouched photos via a link to a password protected online gallery within 48 hours of your shoot. From there, you can download all of your images straight to your computer.
We received our images just two days after our shoot with Perfocal. Over one hundred photos from our shoot, each one edited and looking absolutely beautiful.
I’m thrilled with the collection of photos from our afternoon shoot, they’ll be treasured forever.
