Wondering how to set up your Toniebox so you can get busy enjoying hours and hours of fun? The good news is that it’s pretty simple and it only needs to be done once! Click ‘play’ on our main image or read our step by step instructions below…
There are actually two ways to set up your Toniebox. 1) Using the mytonies app or 2) via the website, my.tonies.com/setup.
To get started, you’ll need:
Download the mytonies app from the App Store (iPhone) or the Google Play Store (Android).
Once downloaded, open the app, and create your free Tonie account so you can login. Once logged in, tap the “Tonieboxes” tab on the bottom of the screen.
Tap the red plus sign to add the Toniebox and you’re now ready to start the setup process.
For set-up to go smoothly, you”ll need access to a 2.4GHz WiFi connection, your Toniebox, and the Toniebox Charging Station. Once you’re ready, tap ‘Start Now’.
Next, you’ll need to enter your Toniebox ID. You can find this eight-digit number on the bottom of your Toniebox. You’ll need to take your Toniebox off the charging station so you can see the ID. Once entered, tap ‘Continue’.
Now you can pop the Toniebox on your charger to turn it on. Pinch both ears for approx 5 seconds until you hear an audio chime. You’ll see the LED will flash blue. Wait for around 20 seconds until you hear a second audio chime. Then tap ‘Continue’.
Now it’s time to name your Toniebox. Pop in the name of your child, or your Toniebox name of choice, and tap ‘Complete’.
Now your Toniebox will connect to your 2.4GHz WiFi. This process will vary slightly depending on whether you use an iPhone or Android:
The WiFi your iPhone is currently connected to will be pre-populated in the WiFi name section. If this is the correct 2.4GHz WiFi that you want the Toniebox to connect to, enter the correct password and tap ‘Connect to Wi-Fi’.
If you want to connect to a different WiFi, you can type the name in manually before entering the password and tapping ‘Connect to Wi-Fi’.
Tap the dropdown arrow to view all available WiFi connections nearby. Tap the name of your 2.4GHz WiFi and then enter your WiFi password. Once you have entered the correct password, tap ‘Connect to Wi-Fi’.
Wait while the Toniebox establishes a connection with your WiFi.
Your Toniebox will now attempt to connect to your smartphone. This is a super-important step, so give it time to happen, so you can complete the WiFi connection process.
You will see a different message depending on whether you use an iPhone or Android.
Give it a minute or two for your Toniebox to finish the connection process.
Once your Toniebox is finished connecting to your WiFi (it may need to complete an update), you’ll hear a welcome message. You’ll see ‘Congratulations, you are a Tonie hero!’ on your screen, and the Toniebox LED should be solid green.
And et voila! That’s it! Your Toniebox is set up and ready for action.
Place a Tonie on the Toniebox and wait momentarily for your Tonie to download its content, while the LED blinks blue. Once your Tonie is finished downloading its content, the LED on the Toniebox will change to solid green and an audio chime will play. Now that Tonie can play even without a WiFi connection, so you can take your Toniebox out and about on your adventures!
