Crafts & Activities / 11 October, 2020 / Nanny Anita
Every autumn I see lots of posts about conkers, painting them, maths activities, and sensory bins etc. But I see little about acorns. Don’t get me wrong, I love conkers, they played a big part of my childhood, but I thought it would make a nice change to do something with acorns and turn them into acorn monsters.
Make sure you follow our Halloween board on Pinterest, and don’t forget to pin the Pin at the bottom.
* I highly recommend using acrylic paints for this; they are thicker and stick onto the acorn rather than scratching off.
Before you start you all need to put on your wellies and go for a walk to find some acorns. Unfortunately there aren’t many oak trees near work so I went for a nice long walk over the weekend in my local woods.
I left ours to dry out for a few days, but you don’t have to wait. However, don’t be too surprised if you find a maggot or two amongst them. Gross I know, but hey that’s nature.
Then let your imagination loose and start turning your acorns into monsters.
EC and YC had all sorts of plans for their acorns, EC wanted to turn his ones into pets.
I even made some minion ones.
This is the first of my Halloween crafts for this year, so make sure you keep checking back to see what we are up too.
