Choosing the right car seat can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re looking for something that offers long-term use, top-level safety, and everyday practicality. The Avionaut Stardust ticks all those boxes, providing a smart, versatile solution that adapts as your child grows.
The Stardust is a multi-group car seat designed to grow alongside your little one, from newborn right through to when they’re ready to travel without a car seat. It accommodates children from 40 cm (with an infant insert) up to 150 cm in height, providing years of use and making it a fantastic long-term investment for parents.
Just a quick recap. Under current UK car seat regulations (ECE R129 – i-Size), child car seats are selected based on your child’s height, rather than weight groups as they were in the past. Here’s a simple breakdown of the key stages:
Rear-facing infant seats are required. The Stardust covers this stage with its infant insert and rear-facing position, ensuring maximum safety for the youngest passengers.
At this stage, children can continue rear-facing (which is strongly recommended for as long as possible) or transition to forward-facing. The Stardust offers both options, with excellent side-impact protection and comfort.
Older children can use the seat as a high-back booster, travelling forward-facing with the car’s seat belt. The Stardust’s adjustable design ensures a safe, ergonomic fit right up to 150 cm, when your child is typically ready to travel without a car seat.
By law in the UK, children must use a child car seat until they are either 12 years old or 135 cm tall — whichever comes first. However, many experts recommend using a car seat until 150 cm for optimal safety, which the Stardust fully supports.
One of the standout features of the Stardust is its 360° rotating seat. As parents, we know how much of a game-changer this can be, especially when you’re trying to get your wriggling child in and out of the car with bags on your shoulder or in the middle of a quick school run. The seat also gently locks at the side to make buckling up that much easier.
The anti-rotation frame not only enhances the seat’s stability but also increases legroom for growing children, ensuring the Stardust is compatible with a wide range of car models.
The Stardust’s ergonomic design supports your child’s back, which can significantly improve breathing comfort and potentially reduce the risk of reflux, especially on longer journeys. The memory foam headrest is another thoughtful feature, moulding to your child’s head for both safety and a snug, comfy fit.
When you’re juggling everything else, it’s great to know that the one-hand button control allows you to rotate and recline the seat easily. It’s those small, parent-friendly details that make a big difference day to day.
The Avionaut Stardust comes in a range of colours to suit your car and your style, including pink, red, mint, navy, grey, and black. RRP: £349.95
