When my son was born over a decade ago, I went to my friend Zita West, to ask her advice on which probiotics my son should take after being on a course of antibiotics. She wasn’t happy with anything on the market and said matter of factly, “Let’s make some!”. I had been taking Zita’s supplements throughout my pregnancy and so naturally, I jumped at the chance. Little did I know it would take two years to develop the product from our initial concept to seeing our collaboration stocked on shelves. Ten years on and we finally got around to adding to our range of children’s supplements.
The first 1000 days of your child’s life from conception to two years, is such a crucial time for a child’s growth and development. During this time, all of the body’s systems from the gut, the brain, the whole skeletal system, the immune system and not to forget their respiratory health, are developing rapidly.
Zita and I wanted to create a range of Baba West products to help lay down the foundations for your child’s future health. Our premium children’s supplements range include Infant Vitamin D Drops and a Junior Vitamin D Spray, both of which are free from any nasties and make boosting your child’s vitamin D levels super simple.
During a time where our health is more important than ever, it’s great to be launching a range of products that combine supplements and science to optimise your child’s future health and immunity.
Our original Children’s Multivitamins and Multibiotic Powder for 1-12-year-olds has always been hugely popular, but our customers were often asking us for something suitable for babies.
I am a huge believer in gut health and I am particularly delighted to be launching these two brand new products for infants up to 12 months. They’re easy to use and help support the microbiota from birth. The only difference between the two is that the Baba West Multibiotics for Breastfed Babies doesn’t contain prebiotics, which feed the friendly bacteria because they’re naturally present in breast milk.
Top paediatric dietician, Bianca Parau says, “To lay a good foundation, it is important to provide the gut microbiome with the key nutrients required to perform it’s best from birth. The brilliant new Baba West range has you covered with the added bonus that there are no artificial colours, flavours, additives or fillers.

It’s amazing how clear the importance of having sufficient Vitamin D has become in all sectors of health now. Your baby is born with approximately 300 bones which are the foundation of the musculoskeletal system, and during the first year of life will start to fuse together. This process is called ossification and needs Vitamin D to help with bone density. But it’s not just important for bone health, Vitamin D also plays a crucial role in developing a healthy respiratory system as well as gut and immune health in your growing baby.
Children from age 3 to their school years go through a tremendous amount of change developmentally and cognitively. Racing around building strong bones and muscles, while learning many new skills means the importance of Vitamin D still prevails. Vitamin D is associated with immune and gut health which is never more important than in these early years of building their immunity.

“Both Vitamin D and the gut microbiome play a vital role in developing a strong immune system and preventing various health problems. For babies and children, Vitamin D is especially important as it firstly helps their bodies to absorb and retain nutrients for optimal bone health.
Most children won’t show any signs of a deficiency in the beginning, so it is important to ensure little ones are meeting their Vitamin D requirements from early on. The brilliant new Baba West range has you covered with the added bonus that there are no added artificial colours or flavours, additives or fillers.” Bianca Parau, Specialist Paediatric Dietitian.
Being a midwife, Zita has helped many thousands of women through pregnancies and was asked so many questions about babies and children’s health when it came to vitamins, so for Zita, it was a natural progression to be a part of the creation of this product. “I love watching these babies and children grow. Nutrition and supplements have always been the foundation of my work, so providing valuable nutrients for future health and development is really important to me.”
