Chocolate Orange Marble Mug Cake

Marble cake is as delicious to eat as it is fun to look at! Here you can make the quickest and easiest marble cake in a mug cake version.

Prepare: 3 minutes Microwave: 1 minute, 30 seconds, Cool: 1 minute

Ingredients

• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1 medium egg
• 3 tablespoons caster sugar
• 5 tablespoons self-raising flour
• zest of 1/2 medium orange, plus extra to decorate
• 1 teaspoon orange juice
• 1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder
• 1 teaspoon double cream
• a pinch of salt

What you need

• a microwavable mug

Method

In a bowl, beat together the oil, egg, sugar and flour until smooth.

Pour roughly half the mixture into another bowl.

To one of the bowls add the orange zest and juice, and mix together.

To the other bowl add the cocoa, cream and salt, and stir thoroughly.

Into the mug, drop alternate teaspoons of the orange mixture and the chocolate mixture, until you have used up all of both.

Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds at 800W. The cake will rise, and should still be quite wet to touch. (It also may well drip a little down the sides of the mug as it is such a moist batter.)

Leave the mug cake to cool for 1 minute before eating and decorate with a little extra orange zest.
