Threading activities is one the easiest ways to help develop fine motor skills in young children. It takes very little preparation and is an easy one to put in to a busy bag to take out and about.
To make your own your own threading with cotton reels and stars you will need:
- Cotton reels (these came from John Lewis)
- Stars (from Paperchase)
- String
To add a little bit of colour to the reels I coloured them in using metallic pens.
To help stop the string fraying you can either use candle wax or nail polish to seal it. I did wax to begin with, but found that being used for while the wax began to come off.
This activity may help development of:
- Fine motor skills
- Concentration
