Craft Stick Posting Activity

Do you know what one of the hardest things to do with a toddler is? Go to the loo. BB is too little to stay outside the bathroom, he would probably be the other end of the house by the time I had finished. This means I have to take him in with me. Not a problem, but I spend half my time trying to stop him from touching things or pulling all the loo roll off. I’m sure it’s a problem you can all relate to. Well for some reason I ended up with a box full of craft sticks in my bathroom. Don’t ask me how it got there, it literally just appeared. Thank goodness it did. It has been a God send. BB will sit there taking out the sticks and posting them back in. This gives me those couple of minutes to actually go to the loo in relative peace. I decided to make a craft stick posting activity that was slightly smaller and easy to transport for when we are out and about (not just for when I need the loo). Make sure you follow my toddler board on Pinterest for more ideas. And don’t forget to save the pin for later.

You will need:

  • A container*
  • Craft stick
  • Washi tape (optional)
  • Sharp knife
*I used an old formula tin that I have saved. Start by cutting a few slits in the lid that are big enough for the craft sticks to fit through. If you want to you could decorate the outside of the tin. I used washi tape to make it bright and appealing. Finally fill the container with craft sticks and place it in the bathroom. Now you are ready to pee in peace (hopefully).

I have made a couple of similar sorts of toys using the same formula tin (ribbon pull toy and bottle top posting).  As a result it makes it much easier for when we are travelling; all I need to do is take one tin, the different lids and contents and I have 3 different activities rolled into one. If you liked this craft stick posting activity be sure to check out my cardboard box plane and leaf rubbing busy bag. Pin for later:
