Silver Cross has just launched a brand new crib and co-sleeper, the Voyager. The Silver Cross Voyager is part of the new Essentials collection and thanks to its flexible design, can be used as a side-by-side co-sleeper or standalone crib. Let’s take a closer look.
Suitable from birth to 9kg (approx. 6 months), the Voyager is a great option if you’re busy shopping for a crib for your new arrival. Its 2-in-1 design offers flexibility which will be useful as your baby grows, and its quick and compact fold, plus carry bag make this a fabulous travel companion.
The Silver Cross Voyager Co-sleeper arrives flat-packed in its box ready for assembly. Inside, you’ll find the frame, with legs, castors, a mattress, cot fabrics, two tether straps and a storage bag.
Flat-pack always looks a little daunting at first, but the Voyager comes with clear, easy-to-read instructions for the build. It’s best to lay everything out first, to ensure you have every part you’ll need as you go. If you do that, you’ll find the build pretty intuitive, and we had the frame up and running within minutes. Everything slots into place, there are no screws to worry about.

What’s great about the Voyager is that with seven adjustable height positions, it fits easily to the side of any bed (including divans) using an easy-to-use harness. The harness clips securely to the bottom of the crib and then wraps right around the base of your bed to keep it securely in place. We set the Voyager up connecting it to our King Size divan bed with no trouble at all. There’s also a really useful under-crib storage shelf so you can get yourself set up with your bedtime essentials close by.
The Voyager has a drop-down mesh side panel so you can use the crib as a co-sleeper in those early weeks. Safe co-sleeping is ideal for nighttime feeds as it gives you easy access to your baby. Sleeping close to your newborn is so reassuring for them when they’re really tiny. It’s also handy for those times you’ll need to settle them, without having to get up from your own bed! The Voyager almost feels like an extension of your own mattress, but with baby kept completely safe in their own separate sleeping space.
The Silver Cross Voyager can be used as a stand-alone crib, which is ideal once your baby is a little older and sleeping for longer periods of time at night. The Voyager’s four lockable, swivel wheels make it easy to manoeuvre from room to room.
On unboxing and assembling the crib, it’s instantly clear that comfort is at the forefront of the Voyager’s design, and there are several points to note here.
The adjustable incline when used as a stand-alone crib is a godsend for reflux babies to aid digestion and keep milk down. Unlike other cribs on the market, the bassinet itself tilts, as opposed to being adjustable at the legs.
The crib’s deep foam mattress provides your baby with the dreamiest space to sleep, and cot fabrics have air-flow panels for optimum breathability. The soft, cushioned marl grey fabrics zip off for an easy clean, and it’s also worth investing in a pack of super-soft co-sleeper sheets made from pure cotton and machine washable for ease.
I was really surprised at how quickly the crib was able to fold down, and how compact a package it is once collapsed. It looks like it could fit into a large suitcase. It actually comes with its own handy travel bag which has to be the Voyager’s USP. It’s just fantastic that this piece of baby kit can be transported so easily from one place to another with very little effort.
