Little Bat is best known for its cocktails. Since its launch in 2016, the little sister of Shoreditch’s Callooh Callay, has become a neighbourhood favourite in Islington. Without the Alice in Wonderland quirks of Callooh Callay, it still retains a namesake reference to the Mad Hatters’ poem ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat’. Inside is long and narrow with a mix of vintage furniture, dark furnishings and plush seating. You can choose to sit up to the bar or dine at the back where light streaks through two skylights that give the bar a welcoming daytime feel.
Little Bat have been running a brunch offering, bottomless or straight-up, since last summer and are welcoming families and children this Mother’s Day weekend. Don’t miss out on the three limited-edition Belsazar cocktails that have been added to the menu for Mother’s Day to enjoy some sweet and fruity vermouth drinks.
The brunch menu offers a bit of everything. Granola with coconut yoghurt and banana for those wanting to healthy start to ease into an afternoon of cocktails. Poached eggs and avocado, and smoked salmon with dill mayo form the classic selection, while chicken and waffles with eggs, avocado and pickles is for those with an appetite. Chickpea, potato & parmesan truffle rosti topped with fried egg and bacon was a hearty and comforting choice that oozed with truffle oil.

Brunch In Covent Garden: Cinnamon Bazaar Review
For those with a sweet tooth, my bacon-topped pancakes swimming in a pool of maple syrup were a sticky Saturday treat. This was available on brioche French toast too. The other delicious-sounding pancake choice was almond, strawberries, orange zest and mint, while French toast with banana butterscotch and mascarpone was the ultimate indulgence.
Roasted cauliflower & smoked cheddar croquettes were hangover-curing, gooey, cheesy delights with a kick of chilli relish. Other bits in the ‘Peckish’ section were market fish nuggets and chicken liver pâté with sourdough. We sampled them as our starter but they’re equally good to nibble on with some drinks up throughout the day. Little Bat is a great place for cosying up with a cocktail or two for date night, it’s also a refreshing choice for family brunch with a guaranteed high-quality cocktail list.
If you book in for Mother’s Day brunch, Little Bat is offering a complimentary glass of their Belsazar Rose and Tonic and brunch plate for every mum dining with her children. On top of this, each mum will be entered into a competition to win a bottle of Belsazar Limited Edition Riesling and a boutique bouquet of flowers worth £50.
