With Christmas just around the corner it is time to start thinking about presents. I made this DIY photo cube with my charges for Leonora’s birthday at the beginning of the month. But it would make a wonderful gift for Grandparents, Godparents, teachers etc.
The directions are a little complicated so please bear with me.
Make sure you follow my homemade gift board on Pinterest. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.
Start by putting the blocks into pairs.
Tape 2 blocks together than stack them.
You will need to then tape them along the side where you can see the tape folded between the blocks.
Repeat this step with the other 3 pairs.
When that is done set the blocks out as shown. The ones in the middle need to have the tape facing outwards. Not upwards like the 2 side ones.
Next flip the blocks over.
Then put 4 pieces of tape on as the picture above shows.
Again stack the outside blocks on top.
Put tape on the four sides that you have just exposed (should be two on either side).
Now that you have finished putting the blocks together it is time to attach the photos. You will need 6 photos. 4 need to be longer and 2 square. I highly recommend measuring the blocks so that you can get the photos to be the right size.
The video I original saw that showed how to make the DIY photo cube had them gluing the pictures down first and then using a sharp knife to cut the pictures. However I found it hard to not cut the tape holding the blocks together. It was easer to measure the blocks and then draw onto the picture before cutting it out. Once the pictures had been cut up I then stuck them onto the blocks.
If you get stuck making this, then take a look at this video.
YC and EC had great fun choosing the pictures to put on. We only put 5 pictures on. On the 6th side they drew pictures and wrote birthday messages.
