Medela’s Big Breastfeeding Cafe has gone virtual! Well, to be precise, in light of the current crisis the official Big Breastfeeding Café has been postponed to later on in the year, and in its place, is a virtual initiative set up to provide easily accessible support and advice for breastfeeding mamas.
Medela is encouraging mums to share a photo with a mug of tea or a breastfeeding snap, alongside their top breastfeeding tip. The plan is to build up an abundance of advice from real mothers, creating an entire community of online support.
In this time of crisis, many new mamas may feel completely lost when it comes to being able to access support. This initiative is designed to provide the reassurance and guidance they might be missing from their usual breastfeeding/baby groups during this time.
Just use the hashtag #mybreastfeedingtip to join the 60,000 strong social following and share your hacks, experience and knowledge for others to benefit from.
A recent survey of 1500 mamas revealed just how important mum-to-mum support is during their breastfeeding journey.
More than two-thirds of mothers said that talking to other mums helped them with breastfeeding and 80% said advice from close friends and family during the early days helped to prolong their time breastfeeding.
Medela’s main focus is to keep connecting breastfeeding families across the country so they can share support and encouragement.
Medela has been supporting breastfeeding mothers for over 50 years, and thanks to their extensive research into the science of breastfeeding their breast pumps are trusted and loved by parents, celebrities and healthcare professionals across the globe. Their breast pumps have won countless awards, including a Which? Best Buy, and are found in 94% of UK hospitals.
