It is really important for little ones to develop their fine motor skills. They need them to do things like doing buttons up and writing. There are lots of fun things that you can do to help improve fine motor skills. This week we’ve been playing with a finger gym,
Make sure you follow my toddler board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.
To set up this finger gym I stuck some kebab sticks into a slab of polystyrene that I had saved from a package. I did think about cutting down the kebab sticks as they were rather big. In the end I decided not to. You could use toothpicks as an option.
When it was ready BB threaded the pony beads onto the sticks.
If you have a little one who is older, you could make up pattern cards to go with it. I showed BB a pattern and he did try to recreate it. He was so pleased with himself when he was finished.
If you liked this finger gym be sure to check out my pipe cleaner and colander activity and fine motor skills practice busy bag.
