Baby kit experts Graco have launched ‘The Graco Village‘, bringing together a whole host of experts, communities and influencers on a joint mission to support parents through the fourth trimester. The Graco Village is a new specialist hub with advice and tips on postnatal emotional and physical care for parents during the first 12 weeks post-partum.
The inspiration behind Graco Village came out of a survey of 2,000 parents that found that almost 9 out of 10 feel like the first 12 weeks post birth are an emotional rollercoaster. And we’re not just talking about us mums. Graco found that dads are suffering too, with concerns over family finances and an increased desire for an improved work/life balance. Graco wants to raise awareness of the pressure of the fourth trimester, providing parents with a reassuring reality check surrounding expectations of life with a newborn baby.
Sharon Morrison from Graco explains: “In today’s society parents put a lot of pressure on themselves to present a perfect impression of their lives and to look like they’ve got it all together! Childbirth is a challenging yet exciting period of intense emotions such as doubt, love, worry and fear… We want to shed a spotlight on this journey for both parents, provide a destination for them to connect to specialists, and most importantly raise awareness there is support out there when you need it.”
To support the launch, we’ve chosen our three must-have Graco products for the fourth trimester and beyond.
During those early days of recovery, investing in a portable sleep solution is a must. The new and contemporary Side-By-Side bedside crib from Graco offers your baby a seriously snug sleep environment that can be used from bedside to sofa-side.
Keeping your newborn close
The Side-by-Side is super lightweight and easily adjustable, so you can take it with you around the house. With a one-hand, one-action one-action fold, manoeuvring the crib couldn’t be easier. And with ventilated easy-mesh panels, you can keep an eye on your baby at all times.
The Side-By-Side bedside bassinet can transform into a travel-sized infant bed by simply removing the lower legs to become a portable cot that packs up perfectly. What’s more, you can keep your essential supplies within easy reach within the large storage basket – so now all you have to do is take it easy!
Choosing a pushchair is a huge decision, and if you’re shopping for your first stroller, there are a few things to consider. Top tip: pushchairs can be tricky to buy online, so it’s always worth taking the one you have your heart set on out for a test drive to see if it’s right for you.
Things to consider when buying a pushchair
Always make sure the height of your buggy suits you so that your first trip out and about with your precious bundle is as easy as it can be. Graco’s Near2Me pushchair has three Slide2Me height adjustments, so you can bring your baby closer without having to bend too much.
Choose a travel system that will be there for you from the very first day you take your baby home from the hospital. Graco’s Near2Me pushchair works with a carrycot, car seat and seat unit, so it will grow with your child from day one.
The Near2Me’s versatile seat unit will switch from parent to world-facing, offering security and closeness when they’re little, and the freedom to explore the world around them from a very comfy seat when they’re ready.
The All Ways™ Soother from Graco is a sanity-saving product for every parent, especially if your baby is colicky or suffering from reflux. A swing/rocker gives you a safe and soothing space to put your baby down close to you, to give you a little hands-free time to rest. (Yes, you can leave the chores to one side for now!)
The 2-in-1 All Ways Soother is a multi-use baby swing that allows you to settle your baby with the powered swing motion, or use the portable rocker around the home. The All Ways Soother keeps your baby in a slightly upright position, perfect for post-feeds, so they can rock peacefully while they digest their milk.
What’s great about this baby rocker is that the motions resemble the same reassuring sensations your baby would have felt in the womb, to help soothe and calm them.
The Graco Village offers emotional support from The Naked Midwives and PANDAS, alongside physical repair advice from Lansinoh and Nicole Chapman, an expert in maternal fitness.
