It is that time again to make some homemade gifts for Mothering Sunday. Over the years we have made a variety of things, this year we have been making gel air fresheners. You might think that it is a bit of an odd gift, but it is no different than making hand made lavender pouches. This one is also a quick and easy gift to make that can be done last minute.
Make sure you follow my homemade gift board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.
Make up the powdered gelatine per the instructions on the back of the packet. We used one sachet, which was plenty for 2 jam jars.
Add a small amount of food colouring. BB decided that red was the best colour; it came out a nice peach colour instead.
Next add some of their favourite scents to it. We used honeysuckle. BB added this part, so I am pretty sure he ended up putting half a bottle in it.
Pour the mixture into your jars, pop the lid on, and stick it in the fridge until you need to give it as a present. We tired a ribbon around ours for a finishing touch.
When you give it as a present you can either take the lid of completely or use a sharp screwdriver to make holes in the lid (please don’t do that while it is still on the jar).
If you liked this gel air freshener and need other gift ideas be sure to check out my paper mache bowl and hand print poem.
