We’ve teamed up with John Lewis to bring you tips on how to set an Easter table for the perfect family feast. From spring blooms and whimsical decorations to pretty pastel colours and rustic tableware, it’s time to bring spring into the home with this gorgeous range of Easter decorations and tableware.
A centrepiece is designed to make a statement, elevate the celebrations and set the theme for the rest of the table. The great thing about a table centerpiece is that they can be created at home using almost anything. Why not make your own Easter centrepiece with the kids? Forage for spring flowers, twigs and moss from the garden and you’ve got yourself a craft to keep the kids amused this Easter holiday too!
We love this pretty rattan bird’s nest from John Lewis; it’s the perfect Easter centrepiece and will transform a plain wooden table. Alternatively, fill a simple Egg Basket with Easter eggs – Mini Eggs for the older kids and pretty foiled-covered chocolate eggs for the little ones. Or opt for spring flowers for the ultimate splash of colour. A ceramic planter filled with purple hyacinths and dwarf daffodils will look and smell divine.
Don’t overthink it. Keep your table simple, and mix your existing tableware with a few new textures to make Easter really pop. When catering for little ones, a pretty PVC Tablecloth is a great shout to protect against mess or spills. Or, throw caution to the wind and go for a traditional linen tablecloth in a duck egg blue. If you’re using a tablecloth you already have, give your iron a day off and keep the wrinkles in, it’s all part of the charm.
When it comes to place settings for an Easter table, opt for woven placemats for a rustic but welcoming dining setting. Dress up your crockery with a linen napkin for a simple yet stylish look. Tie your napkin into a knot and tuck in a pretty spring flower or one of these cute Felt Carrot Decorations. Tie the napkin on the diagonal, and et voila! Your Easter table is starting to take shape. Or, check out these super-cute Gingham Rabbit Napkin Rings, set to charm everyone at the table.
Wooden tableware is currently bang on trend, while the connection to the natural world works perfectly within a spring or Easter tablescape. Set the table with wooden serving bowls and platters for a simple yet sophisticated look.
In addition to the physical, psychological, and social benefits of regular family meals, ‘serve yourself’ spreads have been shown to help children to develop confidence, good eating habits, and table manners.
An Easter celebration wouldn’t be complete with a cake. Create a real wow moment with a simple cake stand, with a three-tier option perfect for showing off Easter cupcakes and other individually sized treats. Don’t forget your cake fork and cake slice for the ultimate finishing touch.
The tradition in Germany of decorating the branches of trees and bushes with eggs for Easter is centuries old, and we think an Easter tree will make a wonderfully festive addition to your home.
This paper-wrapped twig tree provides a whimsical backdrop for all your Easter decorations. Choose from felt rabbits, hanging eggs and cute pastel songbirds for the ultimate seasonal display.
Why not try making your own decorations to hang on the tree? Nanny Anita’s 3D Paper Eggs: Egg-ceedingly Simple Easter Decorations are easy to make and will keep the kids amused this school break.
