This week the spotlight turns to the brand new Discovery Stroller by award-winning brand Ickle Bubba. Ickle Bubba are known for understanding the needs of new parents, so we were keen to check out their new stroller to see if it lives up to hype we’ve heard so far.
Ickle Bubba’s lightweight 7kg Discovery Stroller is suitable from birth up to 20kg, offering three reclining positions, which can be moved one-handed if baby needs adjusting while you’re out and about. The Discovery is a really attractive looking buggy with a lightweight aluminium frame. We reviewed the black colourway with stylish tan leatherette handles and leg rest, and can confirm – it certainly looks the part.
The extendable UPF 50 hood is great for summer, and has a view window so you can see into the stroller to keep an eye on your little one.
The buggy comes equipped with front and rear suspension for a smooth ride, and its lockable swivel wheels can deal with bumpy terrains. There’s a gate opening bumper bar for easy access, fully adjustable safety straps with three shoulder height positions for comfort and support. The buggy’s leg rest is adjustable so you can lie your baby flat, or more upright to view the world around them. The stroller has been made with ventilated roll-up fabrics which enables you to keep your baby cooler in the warm weather.
The Discovery can be easily transported and stored with its nifty compact fold technology.
Our favourite thing about the Discovery Stroller is that it’s available in three affordable packages.
The Discovery Stroller package includes the basic stroller with full length protective rain cover – for those parents looking for a no-frills option. Perfect for a warm English summer, or quick trips to the shops.
The Discovery Max Stroller is a brilliant option for parents looking for a super-comfy buggy with that little bit of added luxury. The soft quilted seat liner and footmuff really are quite gorgeous, and only for a really young baby or on a really cold day would you need an added blanket underneath. The Max also comes with a rain cover and cup holder, handy for those craving a coffee on the run!
The Discovery Prime Stroller comes with everything the other two packages include, but there’s also a few frills in the shape of a buggy organiser and protective storage bag.
The Discovery Stroller comes standard with a hand storage pouch which can hold a few essentials, while the Prime edition’s clip-on buggy organiser provides another compartment for wipes and nappies. The storage basket would be the only thing I’d change on this buggy, making it bigger, so that the stroller can be used 24/7. I found I couldn’t quite get my changing bag into the basket.
The Discovery Stroller comes in five different colours: grey, denim blue, black, cream and khaki, so there’s something to suit every personality.
If you’re not concerned with the lack of basket space for a changing bag, this is a fantastic stroller for summer and with the warm quilted footmuff, colder winter days too. I love the look and feel of the buggy, it’s easy to manoeuvre, and the handy compartments are brilliant for storing the essentials you’ll always need with a little one. The Discovery Stroller in any of its three packages is fantastic value for money.
