Trying For A Baby / 27 July, 2021 / Ellie Thompson
Fertility podcast The JelliePod’s team comprises My Baba’s editor Ellie Thompson and her husband Jamie. This week, they welcome 30-year-old Natalie who joins the show to talk about her IVF/TTC journey.
Natalie and her partner went through five rounds of IVF, three NHS journies and two private rounds with an egg donor. Natalie was also diagnosed with SERC (a little-known condition called smooth endoplasmic reticulum clusters).
Natalie talks about how she struggled with the prospect of not having children as IVF cycles continue to fail, and how she came to terms with using an egg donor, and their decision to have egg donor treatment within the UK. Natalie talks about how she found counselling helpful ahead of treatment.
Fertility podcast trigger warning: the journey involves a devastating miscarriage that lasted months, involving two lots of surgeries as well as some personal advice on how to come to terms with the loss of a baby.
