Why The Outdoor Cinema is The Place to Take The Kids This Summer

Summer is in full swing and the school holidays are fast approaching. If you’re wracking your brains for things to do to keep the kids entertained this summer, the The Luna Cinema outdoor experience HAS to be added to your itinerary.

The UK’s leading open-air cinema company, The Luna Cinema has recently announced the return of The Luna Kids Cinema, this summer. Designed specifically for children, there is an impressive list of films for this year’s line-up, in a variety of locations across the UK, and is guaranteed to be a fantastic fun-filled day out for all the family. Below, George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, tells us why this is the perfect place for all the family this summer.

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said: “It’s shaping up to be a pretty special summer of outdoor cinema for films fans, no matter their age. We know that going to the cinema with babies and children can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, and that is why the Luna Kids Cinema experience is so different. We’ve hopefully thought of all the little touches to make the experience as hassle free as possible for the adults and as much fun as possible for the kids!”

  • We know that families are always itching for ideas on where to take the kids over the summer to keep them entertained. With Luna Kids being the first ever open-air cinema designed for children, it is the ultimate experience for families, and what better way to watch than at some of the UK’s most beautiful and historical parks and heritage sites.
  • This year we’re expanding Luna Kids to eight locations in the UK, meaning there is likely to be a screening near you! New locations include The Meadows in Edinburgh, Victoria Park in Glasgow, Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, Kensington Meadows in Bath, Dunorlan Park in Tunbridge Wells and Harewood House in Leeds.
  • We champion ourselves on showcasing the year’s biggest children’s releases from ‘The Lego 2 Movie’ to Disney’s new live-action releases ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Dumbo’. We have also got the first-ever open air screenings of ‘Peppa Pig: Festival of Fun’ and ‘Zog” who will be in a triple bill with “The Gruffalo” and “Highway Rat”. This is one not to be missed!
  • There is also a huge variety of classic family favourites to choose from, including ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, ‘Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse’ and last year’s showstopping ‘The Greatest Showman’. We won’t let the adults go thirsty either with a Big Kids Bar serving refreshments – wine, beer and Prosecco on tap – alongside a healthy selection of food and non-alcoholic drinks available too.
  • We’ve got parents covered for an extremely comfortable viewing experience. This includes our range of baby-friendly facilities – covered baby changing area, a buggy park, free highchair access with microwaves installed around the area too.
  • Get ready to expect excellent cinematic visuals, will all screenings taking place on the UK’s highest definition outdoor LED screen. All this at a very affordable price as adult tickets start at £13.50 and children’s tickets starting at £8 (under 3s go free!)
  • And what better news that all this fun is helping a great cause too? We are proud to be partnering again with children’s charity ‘Save The Children’, who will receive donations from each ticket sale we make. They will also be providing stalls at selected screenings with fun activities for all the family.
  • Finally, we know how unpredictable the British summertime weather can get. Never fear as we cater for rain or shine. There’s a giant canopy to provide shade for the sunny days and shelter from the wetter ones, so we can ensure you have a fun and hassle-free experience.

Book tickets

Tickets start at just £13.50 for adults and £8 for kids. Films will screen on a giant 10 metre high-definition screen for picture perfect views even in bright sunlight. The official charity partner Save the Children will receive donations from ticket sales and will be there on the day at selected screenings providing fun activities for all the family to get involved with.
