Spring is fast approaching, and I know so many friends expecting babas this coming season. It will come as no surprise to you that I’ll often get asked which buggy to buy for a new arrival. While I have a couple of stead-fast favourites I like to recommend, I’m always on the look-out for the next best stroller.
Hey presto! As if by timely magic, global brand Cybex known for its luxurious car seats, baby carriers, and pushchairs has just released the all-new luxurious Balios S Lux. The 2020 version of the award-winning Balios S.
Could this be the new all-rounder for both city and suburban parents? I was excited to get out onto the streets to take a look in person.
The updated Balios S Lux: what’s new?
The design team at Cybex have been busy. They’ve taken every detail into consideration and perfected on it.
They’ve updated footrest designs and included intricate premium detailing on the frames and fabrics.
They’ve improved the buggy’s fold suspension and canopy and what’s more (and very exciting as we love our colours!) there’s a fresh new colour palette for 2020.
Personalise your stroller
We’re huge fans of personalisation and the bespoke at My Baba, and with the Balios S Lux, there’s certainly plenty of scope to make this pram your own.
You can choose from an elegant matte black or silver frame, and between five new stunning colourways: Navy Blue, River Blue, Magnolia Pink, Soho Grey and Deep Black.
4-in-1 Travel System
It’s clear that Cybex understand the need for parents to be able to choose travel options best suited to their situation.
The stroller’s chassi accommodates four different travelling options to cover every eventuality. The frame can be paired with:
- Infant Lux Seat
- Cot S
- Cocoon S
- Reversible seat unit
The convenient 4-in-1 travel system is the perfect travel companion for your baby, right from birth to around four years of age.
Comfort v functionality?
As we’ve already explored, the nifty Cybex Balios S Lux certainly excels at functionality with its multiple configurations, but what about comfort, and not to mention ease of interchanging seats?
If you’re looking at pairing the chassis with the new Cot S, you’ll find it easy to carry and quick to fit, thanks to the integrated carry handle and memory buttons. The Cot S combines an XXL sun canopy with UPF50+ protection and a mesh window for added ventilation.
You’ll find the cot bed to be spaciously cosy with its soft foam mattress, perfect for the most delicate and tiniest passenger.
Reversible seat unit
Once your baby has graduated from the Cot S or Cocoon S, the reversible seat unit means you can enjoy one-to-one time with your baba, before they’re ready to face the world and take in the sights across town and country.
Reversing the seat unit is quick and easy thanks to memory buttons. There’s a smart one-hand recline function which offers your baby a full lie-flat position, perfect for resting newborns, or older children napping on the go.
With its adjustable leg rest, seat level highchair, and telescopic adjustable handlebar both you and your child are set to experience a luxuriously comfy ride.
City or country?
Thanks to the Balios S Lux’s generous all-terrain wheels and soft suspension you and your baby are guaranteed a smooth and comfortable ride wherever the adventure. Yep, whether you’re navigating the unpredictable pavements of the city, winding country roads or grassy walks, pushing this pram is pretty effortless, no matter what the age of your little one.
It rolls up and down kerbs with little or no effort required on your part, (long gone are the days of having to lever your entire body weight onto the handlebar to lift up the front wheels) and you won’t ever have to worry about getting a puncture with these wheels.
And as with most buggies these days, you have the ability to lock the front swivel wheels to give you extra stability on uneven ground.
The Balios S Lux is a robust and decent sized buggy and I was impressed that it collapses as easily as it does with its one-hand fold mechanism. It’s not massively heavy, so it’s then super-easy to bung the buggy in the boot of your car or collapse it to self-stand store in your hallway at home. Ten out of ten for convenience!
Accessories for my stroller
You can shop all your additional extras to compliment your buggy here. From cup holders to footmuffs, there’s everything you and your baby will need for every month of the year.
As it’s still pretty arctic out there with snow forecast for April, I’d recommend the beautifully cosy Snogga, which is also a universal fit for strollers, a fabulous investment.
“Hallelujah!” you would have heard me cry on unboxing the Balios S Lux in my living room, as I unearthed a very spacious and completely accessible shopping basket. It could have been Christmas Day! Seriously – I’m all about stowing away my luggage so I’m hands-free to push with ease, and this buggy provides you with the space to be able to do that. Thank you, Cybex – take a bow.
With just one clever purchase, you really do have your buggy for life, to take you through every stage of your baby’s development.
The Balios S Lux is available at independent retailers nationwide from 10th February 2020 and will be available at Mamas & Papas later in the year.
