Ask any parent what they want from a baby car seat and safety will always come first. Ask them what they need after a few weeks of lifting a growing baby in and out of the car several times a day, and the answer is usually something much simpler: an easier way to do it.
That’s exactly what Maxi-Cosi has set out to achieve with the new Pebble Slide Pro and FamilyFix Slide Pro base.
Designed to make everyday journeys more comfortable for both parent and child, the system combines lightweight design, lie-flat comfort and innovative sliding technology that brings the car seat closer to you when it’s time to get your baby in and out of the car.
The standout feature is Maxi-Cosi’s SLIDETECH®2 technology.
When paired with the FamilyFix Slide Pro ISOFIX base, the Pebble Slide Pro can rotate towards the car door and slide out by up to 27cm, helping reduce the stretching, twisting and awkward lifting that many parents experience when reaching into the back seat.
The base also features one-hand 360° FlexiSpin rotation, making it easy to position your child comfortably before setting off. Whether you’re buckling up a newborn or transferring a sleeping baby from pushchair to car, the process feels considerably simpler.
It’s no surprise that the system has also received AGR certification, recognising it as a back-friendly product for parents.
Weighing just 3.9kg, the Pebble Slide Pro is one of the lightest infant carriers in its category. That may not sound like much on paper, but when you’re carrying a baby, changing bag and everything else that comes with parenthood, every kilogram counts.
Its lightweight design makes it easier to move between the car and pushchair, helping take some of the strain out of everyday errands and family adventures.
Suitable from birth up to approximately 15 months (40-87cm), including premature babies, the Pebble Slide Pro has been designed to support little ones from day one.
One feature we particularly like is the ergonomic full lie-flat position, which can be used while driving, carrying and strolling. Babies naturally sleep best when lying flat, and the ability to maintain that position across different modes of travel is a thoughtful touch.
The included newborn inlay helps create a secure fit during those early months, while the adjustable headrest allows the seat to adapt as your baby grows.
Comfort has clearly been a focus throughout the design.
The Pebble Slide Pro features ClimaFlow ventilation panels, breathable foam and mesh fabrics to help regulate temperature throughout the year.
An extra-large UPF 50+ canopy offers protection from the sun, wind and rain, while the easy-in harness stays open and out of the way when placing your child into the seat. Small details, perhaps, but the sort that make a difference when you’re using a product every day.
The Pebble Slide Pro meets the latest i-Size (R129/04) safety standards and features integrated G-CELL Side Impact Protection, designed to help disperse impact forces away from your child in the event of a side collision.
Rearward-facing travel comes as standard, while the secure three-point harness helps keep little passengers safely positioned on every journey.
The seat is also TÜV-approved for use on aircraft, making it a useful option for families who travel regularly.
