Plant-based Fish Fingers, Moving Mountains

Moving Mountains, the pioneering British food tech company that launched the UK’s first plant-based bleeding burger, has unveiled a new innovation: plant-based fish fingers!

The Moving Mountains® plant-based Fish Fingers have a succulent, flaky texture and are coated in crunchy golden breadcrumbs. A favourite with children, they’re a great way to get protein into kids’ diets. They are also delicious dipped straight into ketchup.

Simeon Van der Molen, Founder of Moving Mountains® says: “…To save the oceans, consumers need to reduce consumption of traditional fish. We have provided a solution by creating our first-ever plant-based fish to tackle this sustainability crisis.” By launching the Moving Mountains® plant-based Fish Fingers in the frozen aisle, the brand contributes to reducing the UK’s estimated 10 million tonnes of food waste.

It has been an incredibly intense year for the parents of young children, so Family Action has teamed up with Red Letter Days to host the Time for Mum Virtual Festival on Saturday 13th March.

Alongside a range of events and classes aimed at mums (think baking, business advice, wellbeing, mindfulness AND keep fit), four amazing childrens’ authors will be doing free, live, virtual readings of some of their most-loved kids’ books, to keep the little ones entertained. These authors are Andy Stanton (the creator of the ‘Mr Gum’ series), Fred Blunt, Fiona Woodcock and Holly Sterling.

Tickets for the Time For Mum Virtual Festival are free and available via Eventbrite. There are limited spaces available per event, and more events will continue to be added to the line up as we approach Mother’s Day.

Breaking the taboo about hair loss, Luxury Locks

We prepare so much for the arrival of our baby. From pregnancy yoga, hypnobirthing, NCT classes, to spending hundreds if not thousands of pounds on baby kit. Often, amidst the madness, it’s so easy to forget about ourselves.

It’s so common to overlook how pregnancy and birth might impact our bodies later down the line, and for pretty much every woman, hair can often suffer as a result of hormonal changes.

If you’re looking for a little help when it comes to achieving the luscious locks you once had, check out Luxury Locks. Founded by Sam in 2020 following a long battle with hair loss after the birth of her second son, Sam’s now on a mission to break the taboo about hair loss. She’s created an Instagram account dedicated to offering women an outlet to discuss their own experiences. She also offers a bespoke service whereby she can colour match with her seamless clip-ins. Super-discreet and invisible to the world, they’re made out of human hair and can be styled with your natural hair so they blend really well. Luxury Locks last 6-12 months depending on your aftercare.

The Biggest Thing of All, Kathryn Thurman

Meet Lily, who loves helping her grandma and grandpa grow flowers in their garden. Grandpa uses the garden to teach Lily that everything is part of something bigger – a petal is part of a rose, an ant is part of a colony, a star is part of the universe. When Lily’s beloved grandma unexpectedly dies, Lily is able to use this idea and come to terms with her grief. She learns that every person is part of a bigger family and that even when someone has died, the love you shared with them lives on.

In this easy-to-follow story, Kathryn Thurman has created characters to who young readers will certainly relate, accompanied by watercolour-style illustrations by Romina Galotta. Loss and grief aren’t easy topics to discuss with small children, but a sensitive story such as The Biggest Thing of All is a gentle way to introduce these concepts and explore the issues around grief and how we deal with it.
