One of the nicest things about the My Mario range is that it doesn’t stop at the toys. Alongside the stacking, soft toys and playsets, there’s a whole extra layer of content designed to fit around everyday family life. Nothing overwhelming, nothing overcomplicated, just small, thoughtful ways to bring Mario and friends into those in-between moments.
The My Mario app, called Hello, Mario!, is a lovely example of how digital play can feel simple and age-appropriate.
Available for free on the App Store, Google Play and Nintendo Switch, it’s designed for very young children to interact with Mario in a calm, intuitive way. Think tapping his nose, touching his cheeks or giving his moustache a little tug to see how he reacts.
It’s playful, but low-pressure. The interactions are short, easy to understand and don’t demand long stretches of attention, which makes it feel very different from more fast-paced apps.
For parents, it’s the kind of screen time that feels manageable. A quick distraction while you’re out, a few minutes of shared play on the sofa, or a gentle wind-down moment before moving on to something else.
There’s also a series of short videos, It’s Me, Mario! Stop Motion Shorts, available on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel.
They’re charming, bite-sized and made for co-viewing, perfect for those moments when you want something light and familiar without committing to a full episode of anything. Think snack-time viewing or a quiet pause before bedtime.
What’s interesting about My Mario is how it’s expanding beyond traditional toys into everyday life.
Over the coming months, we’ll see new additions across different categories, from clothing and bath toys to playsets and even mealtime essentials. It’s clearly designed to meet families where they are, whether that’s getting dressed in the morning, splashing around at bath time or sitting down for dinner.
Rather than feeling like “more stuff”, it feels like a natural extension of something children already enjoy.
What ties it all together is flexibility. There’s no one way to engage with My Mario.
Some days it might be building with blocks. Other days it’s a cuddle with a soft toy, a quick tap on the app or watching a short video together. It fits around your routine rather than asking you to change it.
And that’s what makes it feel realistic.
If you like the idea of a brand that moves easily between playtime, downtime and everything in between, My Mario is doing a really good job of getting that balance right.
You can start with what works for your child now, and let it grow naturally from there.
