Saturday 13th October saw the premiere of the brand new feature-length special ‘Fireman Sam: Set for Action!’ take place in the Cinema Room at the Soho Hotel in London. The premiere welcomed an audience of special guests, all super-excited children with their parents.
The movie Fireman Sam: Set for Action stars Dr. Who and Torchwood actor John Barrowman, MBE and will air for the first time on Cartoonio at 8am on Monday 22nd October.
Hollywood has well and truly arrived in Pontypandy, as Fireman Sam finds himself scouted by Hollywood director Don Sledgehammer for his new action movie.
There’s mischief, mishaps and mayhem galore as the glamour of the Hollywood film industry meets the action and heroics of the Pontypandy Fire Station.
While modest Sam is reluctant to accept the starring role, his co-star Flex Dexter has his own agenda to secure the limelight, by any means he can. Frequent ‘accidents’ begin to happen on set: Sam is soon held responsible and not only fired from the movie but from his job. Meanwhile, it’s left to Sarah, James and Mandy to discover what’s really going on.
Fireman Sam: Set for Action guest stars Scottish-American actor John Barrowman, MBE as the charming yet sneaky Flex Dexter. Barrowman is excited about the upcoming release: ‘Fireman Sam: Set for Action’ is the new feature for Fireman Sam fans – they’re going to love it. It’s action-packed and there are going to be lots of thrills in it… it’s a whirlwind, rollercoaster ride of fun, action and adventure.’
‘I like to hope that I’m not an actor like Flex Dexter… I was able to reach into my files of people that I have worked with who might be a bit like the character – I’m not going to tell you who they are though! It wasn’t very difficult to find Flex Dexter in myself, I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!’
‘I haven’t told any of my family that I am doing this yet, because I have a great nephew, my niece’s son, and also I know Fireman Sam from my childhood. My great nephew is a huge Fireman Sam fan and I haven’t told him yet. When it finally comes to the point where I can show him the finished product, I’m going to sit and watch it, and watch his face realise that that’s Great Uncy John… and I know Fireman Sam. I might not have been very nice to him, but I know Fireman Sam and he taught me a lesson’.
‘For a long time, I have always wanted to do a voice for an animated character and having been involved with some great British iconic TV shows, it’s great to be involved with Fireman Sam. Thirty years it’s been around, everybody knows who Fireman Sam is; so to be part of Pontypandy is just amazing.’
Fireman Sam: Set for Action premieres exclusively on Monday 22nd October at 8am on Cartoonio. (Sky 619 Virgin 706 BT 488) #FiremanSamMovie
