Sun Awareness Week: The Sun Protection Guide

According to a survey from the British Association of Dermatologists, eight in ten people do not adequately apply sun protection before going outside in the heat. That’s pretty concerning! This week is Sun Awareness Week, so we’ve put together a list of our top picks for protecting your little one from harmful UV rays. Don’t forget that you should always be using sunscreen too!

Cuddledry SPF50+ Poncho Towel, Cuddledry

This Cuddledry protective poncho is perfect for wrapping up your little one after they’ve been splashing in the pool. It’s super soft and has little poppers under the arms to keep it in place until they’re ready to get dressed.

Mustela Very High Protection Sun Lotion

It’s essential that your child is wearing super high SPF to ensure the highest protection. It’s also recommended that children under three years are never exposed to direct sunlight. We love this Mustela lotion because it keeps your child’s skin hydrated and is fragrance and alcohol-free.

O’Neill O’zone UV Protection Skin Toddler

If your child loves playing out in the sea or pool, a wetsuit is a must-have. They will be able to enjoy the sunshine and always be protected. O’Neill have such a great range of comfortable UV protective clothing at the moment.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids Lotion

Specially formulated for those with sensitive skin, Anthelios Dermo-Kids is a reliable favourite. It’s resistant to water, sand and perspiration, so provides full and long-lasting coverage. Like with all sunscreens, be sure to apply frequently to ensure your child is always protected.

Babymoov Anti-UV Umbrella

An absolute pushchair essential! This Anti-UV Umbrella from Babymoov can be attached to any pushchair and can be swivelled to shield from the sun in any direction.

Babymoov Little Babyni

This Little Babyni is perfect for a day out a the beach. It’s a safe place that provides comfort and protection for your little one against the sand, wind and sun. It’s very light and simply pops up – so easy!

Mothercare Peppa Pig Daisy Sunglasses

Make sure your children are set up with a super pair of sunnies. Mothercare have a fabulous range to choose from at the moment, but we especially love these Peppa Pig Daisy glasses – such a cute addition to an outfit.

Mothercare Cat Keppi Hat

These caps with a fabric section at the back are always the safest option for children. This cotton-soft hat will keep your child cool and protect their delicate skin from any sun damage.

Bugaboo Cameleon3 Sun Canopy

We love the Bugaboo sun canopy. It provides complete sun and mosquito protection. The mesh panelling allows for good ventilation and cool air to pass through.

What Skin Needs Soothing Skin Gel

This Soothing Skin Gel is perfect for soothing itchy skin including rashes and bites. It also helps to moisturise and rehydrate skin after it has been exposed to heat and sun. Suited to adults and children over two years.

Child’s Farm After Sun Lotion

This is our go-to after sun lotion for children. It’s suitable for newborns and upwards. Although your newborn should not be exposed to direct sun light, we recommend this lotion for after any outdoor exposure to the elements.
