Owl Pine Cone Decorations | My Baba

Make sure that you follow my Christmas board on Pinterest for more ideas, and don’t forget to save the pin for later.

Last year we made these sweet Father Christmas decorations using pine cones.  As we had collected hundreds of them we had plenty left over. So they were put away and brought out again this year to make into Owl decorations.

You will need:

  • Pine cones
  • Felt
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon or string
  • Pen

Start by drawing out the parts to your owl and then cut them out. If you are going for a symmetrical look then I highly recommend that you make one wing/eye, then when you have cut it out draw round it to make the other one.

YC felt very proud about using the glue gun all by herself.

If you are gluing felt onto felt then Pritt stick will work just fine. However, when it comes to sticking the felt onto the pine cone I would use a hot glue (if you have one).  PVA will work, but you will need to hold pieces in place for a minute to make it stick.

Finally add some ribbon or string to the top so that you can hang it up.

EC’s owl all wrapped up in its scarf.

I made these with EC and YC for a bit of quiet time rather than watching a movie, and although they only made one each, they really took the time to plan how they wanted their owls to look.
