My Baba’s Editor Ellie Thompson welcomes psychotherapist, Emmy Brunner to the show to chat about the launch of her book, Find Your True Voice. A practical 11-step guide to healing, Emily discusses her perspective on childhood trauma and how we speak to ourselves, and that those key things can be the cause of the mental health issues we experience today.

Emmy talks about parenting two young girls, and what she hopes to teach them with regards to their own mental health, as well as sharing advice on how we as individuals and parents can learn to re-evaluate the way we speak to and treat ourselves.

About Emmy Brunner

Emmy Brunner is a Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist, CEO, Author and Speaker with more than 20 years’ experience in the business and clinical worlds. Her book, Find your true voice, launched with Penguin Life in May 2021 – a practical 11-step guide to healing. Emmy believes that we’ve all experienced trauma in our lives and that what we refer to now as ‘mental illness’ is actually our response to those traumas with her clinical work framed by this belief. Her focus today is upon working with dynamic and ambitious women whom she inspires and empowers to reconnect with their true selves. Alongside her one-to-one coaching program and online course, From Lost to the River, she is the founder of Europe’s leading outpatient service, The Recover Clinic, treating sufferers of trauma, depression, body dysmorphia, anxiety, eating disorders and addiction. Emmy also developed The Brunner Project – a social enterprise that funds treatment and opportunities for support to women throughout the UK.  Emmy has written for The Guardian, The Independent, Metro, Refinery 29, Elle and more, and has featured in documentaries for both the BBC and ITV.
